Photoshoot with Friends

I had Friday off this past weekend so my friends and I decided to have photo shoot.  Though I wasn't in any of the photos, I styled them all and took a few of the photos.
We had a different theme for each shoot.  The first shoot was sort of a Seventeen magazine/fun-teenage girl themed.  My friend Heather said that she wanted to wear as many florals as possible, so I styled her in a Bar III dress, a Merona houndstooth cardigan, a doughnut necklace from Hot Topic, and Dr. Martens.  My other friend, Christina, didn't really care what I styled her in, so I just wanted her to look cohesive with Heather.  She wore Monteau dress, a Forever 21 jacket, an H&M bowler hat, vintage earrings, and her own Keds.
The second shoot was bringing vintage clothes to the modern day.  The dresses and the jackets that Christina and my third friend Veronika are wearing belonged to my grandmother in the 1950s.  Christina only brought her Keds with her, and since she doesn't fit into any of my shoes, I had to make it work.  I decided to follow in Karl Lagerfeld's footsteps and style them in sneakers (like Chanel's S/S 2014 couture collection).  Along with the vintage dress and jacket, Christina is wearing her Keds, H&M sunglasses, and a cuff while Veronika is wearing a Buddha bracelet and necklace, a chain necklace from Target, a fascinator, and Nikes.
The third shoot was edgy and a bit avant garde.  When Veronika arrived at my house, she brought some of her own clothes.  When I saw these faux leather leggings and this sheer, pastel pink blouse, I knew immediately that I wanted to pair them together.  Along with those, I had here wear these ankle-strap flats from boohoo.com and a houndstooth cape that my mom actually made for me.  Because of how quickly I knew what I wanted Veronika to wear, it took me a minute to coordinate an outfit for Christina.  I eventually decided on a long black "vintage" dress (if you consider the '90s vintage), a long, oxblood, leather, vintage coat, and a Forever 21 necklace.  Her belt actually belongs to Veronika as a dance skirt.  Unfortunately, Christina had to wear her bright red Keds with this since she doesn't fit into any of my shoes.  But other than that, I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
We all had so much fun doing this.  We're planning on doing this again, however we're thinking of doing it again when it's a lot warmer.  By the time we finished our last shoot, we were really cold.  At least we're not in the polar vortex!

Jumpsuit

Wearing:
Jumpsuit: Topshop, Cardigan: Forever 21, Loafers: Mossimo (Target), Bucket bag: asos, Necklace: Target.

My big Christmas present this year was definitely my jumpsuit from Topshop.  Jumpsuits have been big this past season and will be even bigger this coming season.  I've always been intrigued by jumpsuits, and when I saw this one on the Topshop website, I knew this would be the one I'd try out.  The jumpsuit I got is called the matte satin jumpsuit; I like it because of how simple it is.  Because it's plain black and how pretty simple style lines, it's very easy to dress up and to dress down.
Yesterday was the first day I wore it.  Since I was just wearing it to school, I didn't feel the need to go all out and wear crazy heels and red lipstick (even though it would look amazing with this).  This January day was actually pretty warm (a good 40 degrees!), so I was able to wear my new flats from Target.  I also wore my Forever 21 cardigan, a target necklace, and my new asos bucket bag.
I was very pleased with the jumpsuit, and I received many compliments on it.  I think what people were amazed by the most was that this actually has pockets.  My aunt always says that once pockets are added to something, that becomes 10x more desirable.  I've never seen a case where she was wrong!

dELiA*s Coat

Wearing:
Jacket: Delia's, Jumper: APT. 9, Skirt: H&M, Boots: Bongo

Over Christmas, my aunt gave me this wonderful Delia's coat.  I originally saw this coat in a Delia's catalog.  I was actually quite surprised when I first saw this jacket in the catalog.  Before I saw this, I felt that I had outgrown Delia's, and frankly it just wasn't normally my style.  Yet when I saw this I immediately fell in love with this.  So I felt so fortunate that my aunt gave this for me for Christmas.

Not only do I think this jacket is incredibly stylish, but it also works very well for the weather we have where I live.  This jacket is lined with thinsulate which makes it warmer than normal jackets.  This isn't really a jacket, it's much more of a coat.  It's warm enough so on days where it's between 20 and 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) it is perfect to wear to school.  This jacket also came with a belt, however I took it off for two reasons: 1) I always felt paranoid about losing the belt. 2) I didn't think that this coat truly went with the belt.  This coat has very straight lines and is minimalistic and edgy, yet with the belt it completely changed the look and style of the coat.  Much less minimal/edgy and much more drapey and feminine.

If any of you are interested in this coat, it is still available on the dELiA*s website.  It is called, "Tie Waist Moto with Thinsulate."

Happy New Year!

Wearing:
Jumper: Madewell, Vest: Boohoo, Skirt: Target, Boots: Kenneth Cole, Lipstick: MAC

Here comes the obligated post about new years.  To be honest, my new years was a bit of a bore.  I went and stayed with my aunt and uncle where I saw a few of my young cousins and celebrated a small second Christmas.  However, after the children went to bed I just watched the movie Titanic with my mom and my aunt (I party really hard).  Amazingly that was my first time watching Titanic, and I managed not to cry.  New Year's morning we went out for a small, quiet breakfast.  After that, we watched the Great Gatsby with Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan.  That movie is so amazing.  So because my super low key New Years, unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the night.  But really, you didn't miss too much.

Yesterday was my first back to school.  I opted to wear so new clothes that I received for Christmas.  The first item is my wonderful Madewell jumper that my aunt gave to me.  She knows that I love France which is why she got this for me.  This jumper is absolutely perfect for the cold here; it's so warm and soft!  The other new item I received for Christmas was my black faux-fur vest from Boohoo.  Well actually, I bought this Christmas present for myself.  I felt like I needed some (faux) fur in my wardrobe, and I thought this would be a perfect addition.  This is also super soft, and lot's of people kept asking to feel it to see how soft it was.  Then I paired those with a Target skirt, Kenneth Cole boots, and of course black tights (as it was less than 30 degrees).

I hope all of you had a wonderful new year!  Let's make this our best year yet!
