12 Looks of 12 Months | 2016

I'm sitting on my couch here in Montana, watching Jurassic World, and thinking back on the year behind me.  As tough as parts of this year were (the death of Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher destroyed me), I've also been really lucky this year.  I completed my first year at an American university which helped me live out my dream of moving to London to study fashion.  I've gone through a number of changes this year, but I couldn't be happier.
Whilst reflecting on this past year, here are 12 of my favorite looks.  Happy New Year everyone!!  May 2017 be (hopefully) great!

Alright... so on a few of these I'm cheating.  I technically took these photos in January, but didn't post it until the beginning of February.  Plus all of my 'official' January posts were leftover pictures from my trip to the UK the previous year.

Another cheat, sorry.  Again, I may have technically posted this in June, but my cousin's wedding was in May, so that's where I'm placing this one.

Let me explain this one; I didn't post at all in October meaning I would only have 11 looks.  In September, I was in both Montana and London, so I decided to post one from each place.

Cold Ankles

Wearing:
Shoes - Public Desire | Jeans - Marks & Spencer | Shirt - Forever 21 | Coat - John Lewis | Belt - Asos | Bag - Clark's | Sunglasses - Target

I seem to have an act for not dressing weather appropriately.  I received these beautiful Stella McCartney inspired flatforms for Christmas, and I just couldn't wait to wear them.  Despite the single digit temperature and the blistering cold wind, I just had to go out and shoot these.  They are surprisingly comfortable, but they are scary to walk in in snow and ice.  I cannot tell you how many times I almost tripped while walking from the car to this area to shoot (it was maybe 15 feet).  After taking these photos, I gave up on trying to walk around in the snow and switched into my Adidas for the rest of the day.
My ankles probably also didn't appreciate the fact that I paired these shoes with my new, cropped jeans.  If you remember from a few posts ago, I made a wishlist of some clothes that I was eyeing at the time.  One of the items was this pair of jeans from M&S, and I eventually gave in and bought them.  I ordered them online, so when I received them they were a lot shorter than I had anticipated.  I almost returned them out of fear of them being too short, but I loved the patchwork quality and the raw hem so I let them stay.
Despite being terrible shoes for winter in Montana, I already know that they'll be perfect when I return to London.

Merry Christmas to Me

Even though Christmas morning is tomorrow, I still went out and decided to treat myself to some new makeup.  For half of the things here, I actually had a reason to buy; I forgot not only my Beauty Blender back in London, but also my foundation!  The other things, however, I bought them a bit impulsively because they were on clearance.
I'm normally one to do lots of research on makeup before buying, so despite buying some of these things rather impulsively, I'm really happy with my purchases.  The Real Technique sponges I've used before, so obviously I think they work well since I'm repurchasing.  When it comes to foundation, I am by no means an expert.  This is only the third foundation I've bought in my life, but I think the color match is almost perfect.  The foundation, L'Oreal True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation in N2, is very layer able meaning you can have as much or as little coverage as you'd like.  It does come with its own cushion to apply the foundation, but I prefer to use my beauty blender.  Also, I'm a sucker for rose gold, so the packaging is a definite plus.  These brushes from Sonia Kashuk are soft and seem to apply makeup evenly, but I haven't used all the brushes yet so I can't say for sure (a standout already, though, is the concealer brush - definitely recommend).  Finally I purchased this makeup palette from Pixi, and let me just say that I am in love.  The eyeshadows are very pigmented and are beautiful, neutral colors.  The bronzer is almost too pigmented, so a little goes a long way.  All in all, it's a definite thumbs up.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas Eve tonight.  Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!

Home for the Holidays

Wearing:
Coat - John Lewis | Jumper - Target | Jeans - BDG by Urban Outfitters | Sneakers - Adidas Superstars | Belt - Asos | Bag - Clarks | Fishnets - Asos

Does this setting look familiar?  After three months in London, I've returned home for the holidays. meaning I'm back to my original blog locations.  Last week it was incredibly cold (think temperatures of -20°F), and this week, though not quite as cold, we still have the leftover snow.  Sure the snow can be annoying - or rather the ice that comes with it - but the beautiful white color adds a great dimension to any photo.
I'm keeping it warm and casual right now with just a cozy jumper and jeans, my only pop being the fishnets under the jeans.  It seems like every blogger right now is doing a 'Holiday Party Look' but I doubt I'll have any parties to go to this season.  I'm so much a homebody, and I just don't see myself going to/getting invited to any event.  If I do end up doing a going out look, it'll be purely because I want to dress up in sequins.
Considering tomorrow is Christmas Eve, and I'm not sure yet if I'll be posting again tomorrow, I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

Funny Guys

Wearing:
Jacket - H&M | Jumper - H&M | Jeans - Topshop | Sneakers - Adidas Superstars | Belt - Asos | Bag - Oasis

Taking blog pictures with friends is always a great experience... even if they try as hard as possible to photobomb your photos.  I'm sure you notice my friend Ed lurking behind me on some nearby stairs, or when he took the picture of Amber and me doing his best 'Dutch Angle.'  Sure I could have just left out these pictures out, but these photos make me laugh, and I think it gives blogging a bit more of a "real" side.  As much as I love a perfectly curated collection of pictures in any given post, sometimes it can make the blogger behind it look too perfect.
Last weekend, despite impending deadlines, my friends and I decided to venture out to my favorite neighborhood of Notting Hill and go to spots that inspired the movie of the same name.  We found the famous "Blue Door" where Hugh Grant's character lived, went to the actual bookshop that inspired the shop in the movie, and of course sang "Ain't No Sunshine" as we walked down Portobello Road.  I'm not gonna lie, this is probably my favorite movie, and it always feels surreal (but nice, haha) when I walk down this neighborhood.  Luckily while I was there, it wasn't too cold and was able to get away with just a jumper and a leather jacket; by the way, I haven't been able to take this jumper off since I bought it.  I just love the extra long sleeves and the ruffles.
Anyway, I've now turned in most of my assignments, and this semester is almost over.  I've absolutely loved my experiences so far, and I'm already excited for next semester to start.

P.S. This is my 200th post guys!!  I didn't realize that I had already posted 200 times, as it feels like I just started this blog a matter of months ago!  Thanks for reading after all this time, and I hope you stay with me!

Wishlist | December 2016

(From left to right)

As the end of the school term is near and Christmas is right around the corner, I keep finding myself doing some online (window) shopping.  I have lots of deadlines looming, and whenever I give myself a break (maybe a few too many breaks) I'm back online.  There are a few specific pieces, like the jeans and the ankle boots, that I've been looking at for what feels like months now.  I've been close to adding them to my basket on a few occasions, but I have to keep reminding myself that Christmas is only weeks away!  When did that happen!?  Plus, a little birdy told that one of my family members might be getting me these boots for Christmas.  While the dresses and the blouse will most likely remain unpurchased within the next month or so, I might be able to convince myself to buy the puffer jacket and/or the jeans.  I've been after some raw hem jeans for a while now, and I love the patchwork aspect of this pair.  And even though it seems I keep buying jackets, I'm *this* close to buying a puffer jacket.  Whether it's the one I've listed here or another, it's surprisingly chilly in London.  Back in Montana it's achingly cold, but we also have cars to get everywhere, so in a sense, you don't spend as much time outside (unless you're a skier, which I never was).  However, in London, I'm always walking everywhere and spending more time outside.  It may not be as cold, but after spending a few hours out there, the temperature still gets to you.
If I do decide to get any of these items, I'll probably be posting it on Instagram first, so be sure you're following me - @itselizabethclaire!
