Totally Clueless

Wearing:
Blazing + Skirt - home made, Cardigan - Goodwill, T-Shirt - Zara, Socks - Target, Shoes - Amazon, Purse - Asos

Ugh, As If!  I've always been totally obsessed with the movie Clueless, so this year I decided to channel my inner Cher Horowitz.  My mom was nice enough to make me this wonderful costume, but I made all of the design choices.  My favorite part is the safety pin and chain detail on the skirt, as I've noticed that it's often a forgotten part of the look.  The cardigan, though it was purchased at Goodwill, it had to be cropped to attain the 1990s look.  The rest of the outfit I either already owned or had to buy; the t-shirt and the purse I already had, but I had the buy the socks and the shoes.  The shoes were crazy hard to find; I eventually gave up and bought them on Amazon.com.  My mom didn't finish making my costume until last night, but in the end it turned out perfect.
Not quite as many people recognized my costume at school, luckily there was a fair number who did.  Also, I would have liked to fit in more quotes from the movie, but overall it's one of my favorite Halloween costumes.

Fall Colors

Wearing:
Trousers - Zara, Top - New Look, Jacket - Mudd (Kohls), Boots - New Look (asos), Hat - H&M

Fall colors are always beautiful... in nature.  Personally, I'm not one to really wear those colors.  Pumpkin spice orange, deep yellow, any shade of brown, I'd much rather see it on trees than on me.  Sometimes I'll wear deep red and burgundy, but even so, I generally like to keep it on my lips.  So for this look, I wanted to stand out against all of the colors of fall.  I did so by wearing a lack of color.  The trousers I'm wearing I bought in the Zara from Paris; they are so comfortable I compare them to sweatpants.  I added a sleeveless patterned top and a classic leather jacket.  To finish the look, I decided to channel London style: chunky ankle boots and a great hat (in this case, a bowler).  Over all, the only three colors (or lack there of) I'm wearing are black, white, and grey, my three favorite.

Windy Day

Wearing:
Jacket - Mudd (Kohls), Skirt - Target, Shirt - K-Mart, Boots - Kenneth Cole REACTION (TJ Maxx), Tights - Target

Bear with me.  I know that I haven't been posting as much as I would like, but school has been really busy lately.  On Monday I'm expecting my SAT results, and this weekend I've been working on my college applications (and will continue doing so).  It's always a relief when I'm able to post, as it's something I love doing, but over the course of the next few months I probably won't be posting as much as I like.  I think after January, life will be much less hectic.
Now, back to the look.  This windy day, my little friend Fred the cat came and decided to model with me.  This wind did get in the way a bit, making some photos rather blurry, but it also gave a cool look to some other photos.  The skirt I'm wearing I wore last year for my Halloween costume when I was Anna Wintour.  The rest of the look I decided to keep rather simple, having everything else be black.  This way, the pattern on the skirt pops against the black leather jacket and the black tights.
I'll do my best to post as often as I can, expect another post in the next day or two!

Stop What You're Doing... & Other Stories is now in the USA!

Last year, I entered into a complicated, long-distance relationship.  It ended up not working out because distance was just too big of an issue.  No, I'm not talking about a boy, but the brand & Other Stories.  When I was in London last summer, I fell head over heels for this brand.  I wanted to buy everything in sight, even if things were a bit out of my price range.  When I returned home, I was devastated to find out that they didn't ship to the US.  That is, until now.  This week, & Other Stories is opening their New York flagship store, but for those of us who don't live in New York (*cough* me *cough*), their website now ships to all of the US.  Now please excuse me while I go and spend what little money I have on items from one of my favorite brands, & Other Stories.

Pearls Are a Girl's Best Friend

Wearing:
Jumper - Primark, Skirt - JC Pennys, Boots - K-Mart, Backpack - boohoo, Sunglasses - thrifted

How amazing are these glasses I found at a local thrift store?  Ever since Rhianna wore those vintage Chanel sunglasses to the Victoria's Secret show a year or two ago, I've been on the hunt for a similar pair.  About eight months to a year ago I noticed that the website boohoo.com had a knockoff pair for about $15.  I came this close to buying them, but before I was able to pull the trigger boohoo sold out.  It was months before I saw anything remotely similar to the ones from boohoo.  It wasn't until last month when I was about to leave a thrift store, when I happened to see these out of the corner of my eye.  To my utmost surprise, I was able to get these for only $1!!!!  How crazy!
Really, these glasses would go with almost anything, but today I decided to go with a pearl theme.  This jumper was one of the many jumpers that I bought in Paris this summer.  I especially love this jumper because it reminded me of this jumper I was interested in from Zara, however that jumper cost around $70, but the one I wearing is from Primark and cost less then $20.  Now normally I'm not one to mix navy and black, but I felt that my (faux) leather skirt would balance the pearls on the navy jumper.  To my pleasure, the navy and the black actually looked rather nice together.  To finish the look, I added my motorcycle boots, that desperately need replacing, and my faux-croc backpack as I did just get home from school.
I have an extra long weekend ahead of me, so there will be lots of posting through the next few days!

Menswear and Lipstick OOTD

 Wearing:
Coat - H&M, Shirt - Pimkie, Trousers - Jennifer Lopez for Kohls, Boots - Matty's (DSW)
Lipstick - M.A.C. in M.A.C Red with Cherry lip liner

It's becoming rather apparent that fall is here to stay.  Some days it's rather hard to embrace, remembering those long, warm, summer days.  However, there is a silver lining to fall weather: layering!  As fun as summer is, after about two or three weeks I miss my fun coats and cozy cardigans.  The day that I can break those back out is a happy day.
For this look I broke out my menswear pink coat (again).  I've been starting many of my looks recently with this coat.  To keep the menswear theme going, I then put on my menswear trousers.  To make the coat pop, I kept the top and boots in the black and white color family.  Finally I added my favorite red lipstick because is there ever a time when you can't wear lipstick?  Plus, I love the combo of the bright red lipstick and the pastel pink coat.  That's one thing I'm most excited about this fall, the fact that pastel colors aren't just for spring anymore.

Craving: Over the Knee Boots

Craving: Over the Knee Boots
1) Aldo
2) Kohls
3)  DSW

Lately I've been obsessed with over the knee boots.  I'm seeing them everywhere; every blogger to every street style star is wearing them.  These three I found are my favorite pairs.  The prices on these range from $70 to $180.  I would be happy with any of these pairs, even though I'm not in a position right now to get a pair, but because of where I live, the second pair would probably be the most practical (they are also the cheapest).  Which pair is you favorite?

What I Would Have Worn to Paris Fashion Week

Wearing:
Coat - Vintage, Blouse - Forever 21, Jeans - The Gap, Heels - Bamboo, Bag - Vintage, Belt - JC Penny
Lipstick - M.A.C in M.A.C Red

I just don't know what happened to my invitation for Paris Fashion Week, it must have gotten lost in the mail.  One of my favorite parts of any fashion week is the fabulous street style.  Paris, most definitely, has the chicest street style.  I love the way everyone is able to mix black, vintage, menswear, etc, and still manage to look perfectly put together.  With that in mind, I decided to start the look off with my vintage green coat.  I originally bought this coat for my 1960s museum costume.  But even when I bought the coat, I knew that I would be wearing it for more than just a costume piece.  To bring in the menswear element so often seen at PFW, I threw on my boyfriend jeans.  Of course I had to have some black, so I added a mostly black blouse.  Finally, to add a pop of elegance, I decided to wear my black and gold kitten heels, that I got from Goodwill of all places (!!!), and a white vintage purse, that I also bought for the 1960s museum.  Oh, and lipstick of course!

I'm sure by next year my invitation will find its way ;)

A Grey Kind of Day

Wearing:
Coat - H&M, Jumper - Primark, Skirt - Target, Boots - Dr. Martens, Hat - Target, Tights - Target (probably)

Oh how I love the rain.  Spring is my favorite season because of this.  But it's not spring.  It's autumn.  That's the thing about the weather here, it's very unpredictable (like how today it was 75 degrees, but last week it was practically snowing).
Another thing I love is this pink coat.  I love how it's a menswear shape, but it's in pink; it perfectly blends masculine and feminine.  I will warn you now, you will be seeing a lot of this pink coat.  I plan on wearing this very frequently this season, as I've already worn it everyday this week.
I started this look off with the black fuzzy jumper and the black skirt.  I decided I wanted an all black look so whichever jacket I picked would pop.  I first I was thinking I would wear my black Kenneth Cole REACTION boots with this look, but I've been wear those frequently, and I felt that my good ol' Docs were just calling for attention.  Then I added my tights because it was raining, and rain is cold.  After I added my lovely pink coat, I felt something was missing.  I stood in front of the mirror trying to decipher what was missing when suddenly it clicked; a hat!  This beanie was perfect final touch to my look.

So I'm thinking of doing a fall must haves look for living in the mountains.  What do you think?  I'd love to hear from you!

I'm Back! // Red and Black

Wearing:
Dress - Zara, Cardigan - Target, Shoes - Matty's (DSW)
Lipstick - M.A.C in M.A.C Red with Cherry Lipliner

Good news!!! I found a new laptop which means I'm back to blogging!  Yay!  The laptop I decided on I had been looking at all week and kept coming back to it.  It was out of my price range, but today it went on sale which finally made it attainable.  My mom and I went to get it the minute Staples opened!

My excitement aside, let's get to what really matters here: the look.  I wore this outfit over a week ago for the final day of spirit week.  It was school color day which meant everyone wore black and red.  Originally I was going to wear the red vintage dress that I featured in my Portland and Denver Haul post (here).  However I forgot that I hadn't washed it yet, because I hadn't worn it yet, so it was way too itchy and uncomfortable.  So at the last minute I ditched that dress and went with my classic red Zara.  Sure it may be rather more dressed up than what most people wear at my school, especially during spirit week, but I always love wearing this dress, and the color is rather perfect.  Since I always get cold, I threw a black cardigan over it.  Finally I wore my black buckle shoes, I mean, my school colors are red and black after all.
When I posed for the pictures, the neighborhood cat, who I am currently calling Fred, decided to accompany me and model alongside me.  I have to say, I think he looks rather fierce.
