A Quick Computer Update

Hello! Unfortunately, my computer unexpectedly crashed the other day. I thought it wasn't a big deal, but it appears that it is actually unfixable. The other electronics I have aren't compatible with my camera, so what does this mean for Rockin' the Rockies Style? Well, first I'm going to try to use my mom's computer, but to be honest I rather expected her computer to crash before mine. If that doesn't work, then this blog will just be on a temporary hiatus while I search for a new laptop which can handle my blogging capabilities (and school work, of course). So, for the mean time, please follow me on social media.  I have instagram linked, but just in case just search "rockintherockiesstyle". I'm also on pinterest, just search "Elizabeth Claire." Hopefully I'll be back to blogging soon; I  have three looks on my camera ready to be loaded onto a computer. If you have any questions just shoot. Can't wait to get a laptop and come back to blogging!!

Not Very Spirited

Wearing:
Co-ord - Target, Sneakers - Nike, Socks - River Island, Necklace - Forever 21, Bracelet - Forever 21
Lipstick - Chanel Rouge Allure in Extatique

This week in school has been homecoming spirit week.  I tried to be spirited, I really did.  As it is my last year in high school I decided I would actually try to be spirited on the dress up days.  On animal print day I wore my leopard print ankle boots and my black faux-fur vest, on tropical day I wore a floral-y shirt, on Disney day I actually went all out and dressed up as Cruella de Ville (I even carried around a plush dalmatian all day).  Today, however, I did the best I could do.  Every year my school does class color day; the freshman wear green, the sophmores wear blue, the juniors wear orange, and the seniors wear pink.  Every year the seniors go crazy.  Pink tutus, pink tights, crazy pink accessories (and both guys and girls wear these).  Well, I really don't own much pink.  I have that pastel pink coat from H&M, but it was almost 90 degrees today so that was out.  All that I had left was my pink Chanel lipstick and my Nikes with some pink on it.  Well, to try to make the pink pop as much as possible, I went with just black for the rest of the look.
I've had both of these pieces of this co-ord forever, but today was the first time that I've actually worn them together.  After adding some fun, ruffly socks, my look looked rather bare.  So at the last minute I added a silver bracelet and necklace, which I feel was the missing touch.
Tomorrow is the last day of spirit week, which means it's school color day.  Luckily for me, my school's colors are my two favorite colors, so I will definitely be dressing the part.

White on White

Wearing:
Vest - Target, Blouse - Primark, Jeans - Charlotte Russe, Boots - Steve Madden

I'm sure you read the title and are now looking at my outfit thinking, "but there's red, and leopard print!"  But I do think this title fits the look because of the white vest layered onto the white blouse.  This past season, white has been a major trend.  As much as I, myself, love this trend, I have come to realize that I actually own very little white.  I would love to be able to get a white midi skirt and some white shoes (preferably white ankle boots because I love ankle boots), then create an entire white outfit.  However, since this is all of the white I have right now, I decided to put what I have together.  After layering the vest and the blouse together, I felt I needed a pop of color.  Since autumn is upon us, I felt that my deep red, almost burgundy, jeans would look great against the white.  Finally I decided on my leopard print ankle boots because leopard is a neutral, right?

Here Comes the Rain on Picture Day

Wearing:
Dress - Primark, Boots - Matty's (DSW)
Lipstick - Chanel Rouge Allure in Extatique

Picture day already?  And how am I already three weeks into the new school year?  It seems like just last week I was wandering the streets of Paris.
I don't have a huge post today, just a quick ootd.  Since it was picture day at my school, I wanted to wear something with a nice neckline, so I decided on this Primark dress that I bought in France.  For shoes I thought that these buckle boots, a new favorite of mine, worked well with the dress.  Finally, since picture day is just a glorified head shot, I personally felt that lipstick was a must.  Last year for picture day I wore red lipstick, so this year I opted for my bright pink Chanel lipstick.  (I even felt that my picture turned out rather nicely for the ridiculously awkward pose they make everyone do.)

It's Getting Cold Already

Wearing:
Jumper - Primark, Jeans - Topshop, Boot - Kenneth Cole Reaction
Lipstick - Bite Beauty Matte Lipstick in Aubergine

Though it's only September, it is already starting to get cold where I live.  Not just cold, no no, it snowed the other day.  I repeat, it snowed.  Ok, so by noon the snow had already melted away, but it's more of the point that it snowed in September.  Sadly, this is not uncommon.  In fact, many people got excited about the snow.  Perhaps if I wasn't the one person in my entire town who doesn't ski, I, too, might have been excited.  But, no.  When it snows, while most of the town goes skiing, I go and hide away in my room.
The only bright side about it getting so chilly is that I can finally break out my new jumpers!  While I was in France, I went a bit crazy and bought something like six jumpers, so it's nice to finally be able to wear them.  This white jumper that I'm wearing I loved so much I bought a second in black.  But for this look I wanted the strong contrast between the black jeans and the white jumper.  Then added my deep purple lipstick which popped against the white.  This jumper is so amazingly soft; everyone wanted to touch and feel it when I wore it.  Finally I put on my biker boots, which I felt solidly completed the look.

The Summer Standard

Wearing:
Shirt - Pimkie, Shorts - Forever 21, Sandals - Mudd (Kohls)

As summer comes to a close, I have come to see what everyone wears during the summer.  This is what I refer to as, "The Summer Standard."  Everyone in my town is wearing this outfit to an extant.  But it's not only here, it's almost every teenage girl in the USA.  I have friends in Wisconsin who are wearing this.  When I was in Michigan and Oregon this summer, girls there were also wearing this.  So, I think it's time to reinvent the summer standard.  What I have are three different looks, each featuring one item from the original look, but all re-styled into stylish, summer looks.

The Birkenstock
 Wearing:
Blouse - Primark, Skirt - Vintage, Bag - asos, Necklace - Forever 21, Sandals - Mudd (Kohls)

After three months of summer, I finally bought into the Birkenstock trend.  Since it was the end of summer, they were on clearance for about $8 so I figured, why not?  These birks are sort of a pewter/silver color, so when I was re-styling, I wanted to bring in some accessories with similar tones.  I also still wanted the look to be comfy, so I decided the best way to conquer both of those would be to wear my blue and white, houndstooth midi skirt.  With the skirt I paired a plain white blouse, a white and silver barrel bag, and a long silver necklace which really pops against the plain, white blouse.

The Grey Tee
Wearing:
Kimono - monteau (TJ Maxx), Jeans - Urban Outfitters, Ankle Boots - Rock & Republic for Kohls, Belt - JC Penny, Necklace - Forever 21, Tee - Pimkie

I felt that this look could easily be worn to a summer party but still completely comfortable.  The nice thing about this look, is that you are still wearing jeans and a simple tee, but a few key pieces  dress it up and make it perfect for a party.  The first statement piece is a simple belt, but it brings in some nice gold accents.  The second are the ankle boots, which also has some gold in them.  What makes these ankle boots so perfect for summer are the cutouts.  The cutouts make them feel lighter and more appropriate for summer.  The final statement piece is my lace back kimono.  I'm so in love with this beautiful kimono; with its lace back and fringe bottom it stands out against all of my other clothes.  With these three pieces, it definitely amps up your average tee.

The Denim Shorts
Wearing:
Jacket - Forever 21, Shirt - Peter Pilotto for Target, Sneakers - Converse, Shorts - Forever 21

Finally here are the denim shorts.  This look is still very casual and fun, but it brings in more color than the standard.  The shirt has yellows and blues in it, and the jacket is bright red, so it has all three of the primary colors jumping out.  By bringing in more color and a fun jacket, you're comfortable but still popping out against the rest of the standards.

I hope you enjoyed this post.  Hopefully after reading this, you're now inspired to change up your standard!

Officially Back at School

Wearing:
T-Shirt - Pimkie, Jeans - Charlotte Russe, Cardigan - Target, Chelsea Boots - Steve Madden (DSW)

A simple outfit post today.  My first week back to school came to a close today.  I love my classes, but I also know that I'm taking three, yes three, AP classes so my schedule will be rather crazy this coming year.  I decided to wear something rather simple.  I first picked my new, deep red skinny jeans that my aunt gave me.  Then I paired them with one of my new t-shirts that I bought in France (I love how the tee says, "#Start a Fashion Blog," when I do, in fact, have a fashion blog).  Finally I put on my leopard Chelsea Boots and a cardigan.

I would like to end this post with just a little tribute to the late great Joan Rivers.  A trail blazer comedienne and the amazing host of Fashion Police.  I'll miss you Joan <3.

Oh My Lorde

Wearing:
Jumper - Primark, Skirt - Kohls, Boots - Matty's (DSW), Backpack - boohoo
Lipstick - Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Aubergine

I decided to try something that I've been dying to try: purple lipstick.  I know a few posts ago I did, kinda, wear "purple" lipstick, but I really felt that it was more berry.  I just wanted to channel my inner Lorde with a deep, matte, purple lipstick.  Now it my not be quite as intense as her's, but I still love it.  The lipstick I purchased is Bite Beauty's Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Aubergine.  It's a bit pricey, but after wearing it all day, I would definitely say it's worth the price.  The color stays tremendously even after all day wear and meals.
Basing the look around the lipstick, I decided to stick to neutral tones.  I took my new, scuba, pencil skirt and paired it with a grey jumper from Primark and my buckle boots.  Then since I was wearing this to school I finished the look with my new boohoo backpack.
Now I must go and work on things for AP English.... A few days into school, and they are already putting us to work!  (It's ok though because I will pass the AP test and get college credit, which will make it all worth it.)

Senior Year, Here I Come

 Wearing:
Skirt - homemade, Top - New Look, Cardigan - Target, Boots - Steve Madden (DSW), Backpack - boohoo.com
Lipstick - M.A.C Red with Cherry Lipliner

I'm finally a senior!  I decided to start the year fresh so, I'm sure that you can tell, I decided to cut off my hair!  I love my new bob, I think it suits me so well.  It a bit hard to tell, but I also colored my hair.  I was going for light blonde, but it came out more strawberry blonde.  I still like it, but I'm considering getting highlights in the near future.
The first day is always my favorite day of the school year.  It's the day where friends see each other after not seeing each other for three months, but people can also debut their new back to school clothes.  The first day, undoubtedly, has the best outfits, so I knew that I wanted to pick something that would really stand out.  My mom made me this skirt; it's made out of a pastel blue pleather, a fabric that I just fell head over heals for.  She made the skirt in an a-line shape, and after trying on the finished skirt I knew I wanted to wear it on the first day.  Since the skirt is pretty basic, I added my new leopard print Chelsea boots that my aunt gave me.  Finally, after digging and digging through my closet, I decided to finish the look with a geometric top from New Look and a plain black cardigan.  I actually decided all of this the night before the first day, something I have never done.  Ever since elementary school, I've always had my first day outfit picked out weeks ahead of time.
The first day was great.  I have great classes, great teachers, and a great new backpack from boohoo that I absolutely love.  I think this final year is going to be amazing.
