Wait... Snow?!

Wearing:
Coat - Forever 21, Jumper - Vince Camuto, Jeans - Topshop, Boots - Dr. Martens, Hat - Target, Scarf - unknown
Lipstick - M.A.C Red with Cherry Liner

These are forgotten photos from January, right?
Wrong.
Last week it snowed, like hard core snowed.  It went went being about 70 degrees to a foot of snow in 24 hours.  It was ridiculous.  However, since I do seem to be having a hard time giving up my jumpers and cardigans, this gave me one more chance to wear all of my warm clothes.
I recently discovered this scarf that was buried deep inside my coat closet; to be honest, I have no recollection of this scarf, but my mom insists that I've had it for years.  Basing the look around that, I decided to keep to greys, whites, and blacks so the pastel blue would pop.  My Vince Camuto jumper is always a go-to of mine when it's chilly, so I paired that with my high waist Topshop jeans and my favorite grey coat.  Since there was about a foot of snow, my Docs were one of my few options (I really should have more snow friendly shoes seeing that it does snow for about six months of the year where I live).  After putting the look together, the blue just wasn't enough of a pop; the red lip was the perfect addition.  Finally I threw on a hat because it was actually cold outside.
The "perks" of living here; it can snow literally anytime of the year.  Luckily the locals are used to it since the next day kids still came to school wearing shorts.

Let's Mix

Wearing:
Jacket - unknown, T-Shirt - Forever 21, Skirt - & Other Stories, Purse - Zara, Boots - Steve Madden

Almost two years ago, when I was in London, I stepped into a magical store called & Other Stories.  I immediately fell in love, but at the time I couldn't afford anything in the store.  After arriving back home, I thought I would order something off their website, but alas, they didn't ship their products to the US.  I kept waiting, and it wasn't until recently when they finally started a US site (I have a post about it here).  I had forgotten that they opened a store in New York, so when I was there last month I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon one!  Of course I wanted to buy the whole store, but I decided to just start with this amazing skirt.  I've been obsessed with two trends recently: neoprene and the midi skirt length; both of which this skirt has.  It's also amazing quality, so I will definitely be purchasing more from & Other Stories! <3
Styling this skirt, I deciding to do some pattern mixing.  First I picked the striped top, then I went for the leopard print ankle boots.  Because the patterns are so different, and I have the skirt separating them, I think they work incredibly well together.  I added my white leather jacket that I picked up at a small boutique in Paris and this new purse that I bought at Zara on my recent New York trip.  Finally I put on my purple lipstick because it had just been too long since I had last worn it.

Thank You Mood

Wearing:
Shirt - Mood Fabrics, Cardigan - H&M, Jeans - Topshop, Boots - Dr. Martens
Lipstick - M.A.C. Red with Cherry Liner

When I was in New York a few weeks ago, I was able to check something off my bucket list that I've wanted to do since I was 12: go to Mood Fabrics.  If you're familiar with the TV show Project Runway, I'm sure you recognize this shirt.  However if you've never watched it, Mood Fabrics is the fabric store where the designers go to buy their fabrics (basically speaks for itself).  Well, I have always wanted to go, so I'm just so happy that I was able to make it!
The store was both bigger and smaller than I had expected; it's three stories and absolutely crammed with fabrics, but each floor is rather small.  On the show, the designers are always running around like it's the size of a football field, but I suppose that's just editing making it seem even more stressful.  Also, I wasn't able to find Swatch, the little dog often seen on Project Runway.  Lastly, while I was there my aunt spotted Project Runway designer Benjamin Mack, but sadly I missed him.
I'm not much of a sewer/designer, so I didn't purchase any fabric (although I did think about it), but before I even stepped inside I knew that I wanted one of the t-shirts.
Now that I'm back home, I decided style the shirt rather warmly.  In fact, as I'm typing this, it is snowing, like hard core snowing.  My H&M cardigan and classic Docs are perfect for this new (and unexpected) snowy weather, as well as just this simple pairing with this tee.

Teen Vogue Fashion U *Swag Bag*

While I was at Fashion U, everyone received a 'swag bag.'  The base of the swag bag was the same for everyone: a tote from Express, a Teen Vogue issue, an art book from the Academy of Art University, some Cinderella, Boohoo, and LIM merch, and a Jessica Simpson perfume.  However, at many of the speakers, they gave out some free goodies as well.  Everything was so amazing, and I still feel so lucky that I had the opportunity to go to Fashion U.

The tote from Express.  They had two colors to choose from: silver/black and bronze/tan.  Of course, I had to go with the silver/black option.

An art book from Academy of Art University, a boohoo 'newspaper' and pencil/makeup bag, and the April 2015 Teen Vogue

A lipbalm and pen from LIM college

A sample size perfume from Jessica Simpson

A bracelet and nail file from the new Cinderella movie

Some samples from Michelle Phan's new makeup collection

A berry colored lipbalm from Michelle Phan

An Instagram mug from Kristen Joy Watts

Aliza Licht gave everyone at her seminar a lipstick and nail polish from her new collaboration that won't be released until May 2015 (and since she's the DKNY PR Girl, the products came in a DKNY bag!)

On the last day, at Erika Bearman's seminar, she gave us all two Oscar de la Renta bangles and a sample sized Oscar de la Renta perfume

Fashion Avenue

The adorable decorations at Doughnut Plant

Wearing:
Coat - Forever 21, Top - Etam, Trousers - Kohls, Shoes - Matty's (DSW), Tote - Target
Lipstick - M.A.C. Red with Cherry Liner

One of the days while I was in New York, I toured the Fashion Institute of Technology.  One thing that I love about the school is that it's actually on Fashion Avenue (technically it's 7th but whatever).  After touring it, I loved it.  It has everything that I wanted in a school: fashion, a city location, fashion, great dorms, and did I mention fashion?  After touring the school, my mom and I went to Doughnut Plant, a donut place only a block or two away from the school.  It had a ton of flavors, most of which I had never seen for donuts, but I decided to stick with a classic vanilla glaze and a chocolate one filled with cream; needless to say, they were both delicious!  Later I stopped by Central Park.  I had never been there before, so it was great to finally see such an iconic place.  Unfortunately, I had made a poor footwear choice, and as there was snow on the ground, it was too cold to stay at the park for very long.
Not realizing that I would be going to Central Park that day (it was sort of a spur of the moment decision), I based my look around the shoes.  I love the buckles on them; I think it really just makes them stand out.  I actually didn't bring too many skirts or dresses with me, and I had already worn my black jeans a couple times, so I chose to wear these trousers.  Finishing off the look, I picked out a patterned, long sleeve top, my grey coat because it was chilly, and a red lip for a pop.

I actually think that this is my last NYC post!  I had such a great time visiting, and hopefully I'll be able to spend my college years there.  I think over the weekend I'll do a post about the goodies I received from Teen Vogue, but then I'll be back to doing regular, everyday outfit posts.  As nice as it is to be back home, I sure do miss New York.

5th Ave

Wearing:
Coat - Forever 21, Jumper - Vince Camuto, Jeans - Simply Vera Wang, Boots - DSW, Tote - Target

I meant to finish posting about my NYC trip last week, but I've been rather distracted lately.  I've been waiting to hear from FIT, and I was suppose to know no later than today.  Unfortunately, after contacting them today, I've learned that FIT has had a record number of applicants and hasn't even started looking at my application yet.  Yeah.  And I still have to make my decision by May 1st.  Secondly, I've been watching a lot of Downton Abbey lately on my laptop -- I'm addicted.

While I was in New York, I did plenty of shopping, but I think my favorite shopping day was when I spent it on 5th Avenue.  I stopped by all of my favorite places: Zara, Topshop, H&M, and Forever 21.  Along with those, I also went into Uniqlo for my first time; I thought it was such a fun shop - they sell bras in bags ("bra in a bag" - what I told my mother it should be called), which, for some reason, I just find hilarious.  All hilarity aside, I picked up a nice jumper for myself, even though it's getting pretty warm now.
I decided to wear something comfortable since I would be doing a lot of walking.  I started the look around my velvet boots; a favorite pair of mine.  I then worked my way up by wearing simple black jeans and black/grey and white fuzzy (and non-fuzzy) jumper.  By wearing neutrals else, the shoes pop out even more.  The week I was in New York, it was surprisingly chilly (actually colder than where I live), so I wore my grey coat.  This coat was the only coat I brought with me on the trip, but it actually worked quite well because the color and shape went with everything I brought.  (I originally was going to bring my pastel blue coat, but at the last minute I switched to this one.)
After a long day of shopping, my mom and I went to Anthony Bourdain's restaurant "Brasserie les Halles."  I had the steak frites, and it was quite possibly some of the best food I've ever eaten.  Even the side salad was delicious!  For dessert, I had a rich chocolate tarte, while my mom had profiteroles.

Yummmm

Hopefully I'll hear from FIT soon, until then I'll try to back on track to blogging more regularly.
