The Pros and Cons of Backless Loafers

 Wearing:

Backless loafers have been all the rage this past season thanks to the ever growing popularity of the Gucci ones.  Sadly not all of us can afford the namesake brand and test out trends with more affordable brands.  When I was in Abu Dhabi back in April, my dad bought me these Steve Madden ones.  Shortly purchasing them, I wasn't sure if I was completely sold on the look, but ever since returning to Montana, they've hardly left my feet.  So I thought I'd put together a little list of pros and cons of this trend.

PRO: No Socks!
I don't know about you, but I don't always like wearing socks during the summer.  That being said, I've always had a tricky time finding sandals that I like and are comfortable.  These have become a summer staple for me.

 CON: Sweaty Feet
As nice as not wearing socks sounds, you always regret it after a couple of hours.  Your feet become sweaty making the shoes slip and slide around your feet, so it's hard to keep them on.

PRO: No Ankle Blisters...

CON: ...But Sometimes Toe Blisters
Because these aren't real leather, you're not completely immune to blisters.  So far I haven't gotten a bad blister on my toes yet; I've definitely had shoes that are worse when it comes to hurting my feet.  With all this said, I'm still singing praises about not getting any ankle blisters with these.  I don't think you can tell in these photos, but I literally have scars on the back of my ankles from the blisters I got on prom night Junior year of high school.  Needless to say, I never wore those shoes again.

CON: Squeaking
I don't know exactly how to describe it, but after I've worn them for a while they start squeaking?  I think it relates back to how sweaty my feet get when I wear these, but they sometimes make noises when walking around.  I can't tell if other people can hear it or if I'm just being overly self conscious, but I can definitely feel my face turning the shade of this bag when the squeaking begins.

PRO: They Look Amazing with Everything!
What can I say?  I just really love these and how they look.

Do you have backless loafers?  Would you agree with any of my pros and cons?  Let me know in the comments!
