Pause
Wearing:
Jacket - Zara | Shirt - WhoWhatWear for Target | Jeans - Topshop Mom Jeans | Sneakers - Adidas | Bag - Oasis
So I think I'm going to take a break from this blog for a little while. Don't get me wrong; I love blogging, and I love this blog, but I just have so many changes going on in my life right now (moving to London, starting school, etc.), I really need to get settled here. I also think it's time for a bit of re-branding. Now that I'm not living in the Rocky Mountains anymore, I'm not sure if this title still works. I'm not going to tell you my new title now - that's going to be a surprise - but this will be my last "Rockin' the Rockies Style" post. When I start blogging again, I still plan on having all of my old posts being available, but my url and title will change. I wish I could tell you when I'll be blogging again, but I can't because I'm not sure either. Remember, this is not goodbye; this is just a pause. Thanks for staying with me.

Off Focus
Wearing
Shirt - Target | Jeans - Topshop Mom Jeans | Boots - Zara
I was stuck about whether to title this post "Off Focus" or "1830s Sleeves." As you can see, I ultimately chose the first option. I just got a new camera lens in the mail today that goes all the way to f/1.8. I'm super excited about finally having a lens that has such short depth of field, however this particular lens I ordered doesn't have auto-focus. Taking these photos was definitely a learning experience for both me and my photographer (*cough* my mom *cough*). Some of these photos may be a bit 'off focus' but over all I'm very satisfied with the results.
As I mentioned earlier, I almost titled this post "1830s Sleeves." So I know that most people would call these trumpet sleeves, and they are not wrong. However, I think these sleeves look like the style of sleeve that was popular in, you guessed it, the 1830s! It's currently one of my favorite decades to study because everything about the clothing, hair, and accessories were so frivolous. Below are some examples of sleeves from the decade, or you can check out my pinterest board for plenty more! So what do you think? Do you think my shirt has somewhat similar sleeves to ones from the 1830s? Tell me in the comments!

Half and Half
Wearing:
Jacket - Mudd, Shirt - New Look, Jeans - Topshop Mom Jeans, Sandals - Target, Purse - Clarks, Sunglasses - Tahari
It's official: I've completed my first year at university. This week has been finals week, and I had my last exam yesterday. I still have to wait a few days to receive my grades, but I'm officially on summer break! I'm especially excited because I've been accepted to study fashion in London! I'll give you more details when it gets closer, but this fall I'll be leaving the Rocky Mountains behind and following my dreams to London. I'm pretty darn excited.
This week, it's been getting really warm again. Sandals are now the shoe of choice around town; while most of the locals sport Chacos, I much prefer my flatforms. I paired them with my mom jeans that I haven't been able to take off since I got them and attempted "half-tucking" my shirt. What do you think of this trend? I've seen it done with tons of bloggers and on the Topshop site, but my mom just doesn't get it. Maybe this should be a "Trends My Mom Hates"? Anyway, lastly I draped my jacket because it was just too warm to actually wear it.

Family Heirloom
Wearing:
Coat - Vintage, Hat - Vintage, Jeans - Topshop Mom Jeans, Blouse - Zara, Shoes - DSW
Isn't great when you find family heirlooms? I was getting dressed yesterday when I found this brown, suede coat that belonged to my grandma in the 1970s. It's amazingly on trend, and I didn't even know we had it! After finding this coat, I grabbed this wide-brimmed fedora that also belonged to my grandma, and what do you know? A modern look created vintage pieces!

Trends My Mom Hates: Mom Jeans
Wearing:
Jeans - Topshop Mom Jeans, Jacket - Kohls, Blouse - Forever 21, Sneakers - Adidas, Bag - Oasis
Lipstick - L'Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Gloss in Statement Nude 316
Trends my mom hates strikes again! If you don't remember, I started this tag a few months ago with this culottes post. Well this time it's, ironically, mom jeans. Thanks to other blogs, pinterest, and instagram, I've been eyeing this trend. So many people are able to pull them off so well, that I gave in and asked for them for my birthday. My mom was ambivalent, but luckily she's too nice to say that she doesn't like them. But after knowing her for so long, though, I can tell these definitely aren't her favorite jeans, even if she won't say it directly.
Since the snow is already gone (but I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be coming back), I wanted to take advantage of it and wear my Adidas and a leather jacket, instead of boots and a heavier coat. To keep the look rather classic, I went with a white button up half tucked in. I also decided to switch to my new tote bag that I bought in London because I liked the combination of the suede with the leather jacket.
