Home for the Holidays

Wearing:
Coat - John Lewis | Jumper - Target | Jeans - BDG by Urban Outfitters | Sneakers - Adidas Superstars | Belt - Asos | Bag - Clarks | Fishnets - Asos

Does this setting look familiar?  After three months in London, I've returned home for the holidays. meaning I'm back to my original blog locations.  Last week it was incredibly cold (think temperatures of -20°F), and this week, though not quite as cold, we still have the leftover snow.  Sure the snow can be annoying - or rather the ice that comes with it - but the beautiful white color adds a great dimension to any photo.
I'm keeping it warm and casual right now with just a cozy jumper and jeans, my only pop being the fishnets under the jeans.  It seems like every blogger right now is doing a 'Holiday Party Look' but I doubt I'll have any parties to go to this season.  I'm so much a homebody, and I just don't see myself going to/getting invited to any event.  If I do end up doing a going out look, it'll be purely because I want to dress up in sequins.
Considering tomorrow is Christmas Eve, and I'm not sure yet if I'll be posting again tomorrow, I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!

By the River

Wearing:
Jacket - H&M | Dress - WhoWhatWear for Target | Sneakers - Adidas | Bag - Oasis

Hello everyone!  Just a quick post for today; I didn't have class today, so some of my friends and I wandered down to the river and walked along the Millennium Bridge.  I love this bridge for many reasons, the obvious being that it has a gorgeous view of St. Paul's cathedral; but for Harry Potter fans, you'll recognize this as the bridge that the death eaters destroy at the beginning of The Half Blood Prince movie!  All I wanted to do was to pose on the bridge like it was being destroyed, but I had to restrain myself!
I wore a long dress and a leather jacket and was surprisingly warm.  My friends gave me a hard time for not wearing any tights with my dress, but that's just my Montana roots coming through (we can deal with the cold exceptionally well).  My hands, though, were freezing!  Next time I'll be sure to bring gloves!

Pause

Wearing:
Jacket - Zara | Shirt - WhoWhatWear for Target | Jeans - Topshop Mom Jeans | Sneakers - Adidas | Bag - Oasis

So I think I'm going to take a break from this blog for a little while.  Don't get me wrong; I love blogging, and I love this blog, but I just have so many changes going on in my life right now (moving to London, starting school, etc.), I really need to get settled here.  I also think it's time for a bit of re-branding.  Now that I'm not living in the Rocky Mountains anymore, I'm not sure if this title still works.  I'm not going to tell you my new title now - that's going to be a surprise - but this will be my last "Rockin' the Rockies Style" post.  When I start blogging again, I still plan on having all of my old posts being available, but my url and title will change.  I wish I could tell you when I'll be blogging again, but I can't because I'm not sure either.  Remember, this is not goodbye; this is just a pause.  Thanks for staying with me.

On the Verge

Wearing:
Jacket - WhoWhatWear for Target | Dress - H&M | Sneakers - Adidas Superstars | Choker - Self made | Lipstick - Clinique

Does anyone else sometimes feel like they're on the verge of getting sick, having a nervous breakdown, and huge changes in life at the same time?  Okay, having a nervous breakdown may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I have a lot going on in my life right now.  I think I've mentioned this on here before, but I'll be moving to London for school next month.  I've never lived on my on before, and I've never lived in a big city before.  As nervous as I am about this huge change in my life, I'm so, so excited!  That being said, that also means there will be changes here, too.  I'm going to have an actual post about the changes coming to the blog, but let me just warn you that this blog won't be the same in a months time.
As you also may have noticed, I wore this jacket in my last post; that's because this jacket has hardly left my body since I've gotten it.  It's the perfect weight for this transitional summer-to-autumn period.  Also, I just can't get enough of this WhoWhatWear collection for Target.  I try and try to save my money for the move, but each time I step into Target, this collection draws me in, and I can't resist!  Trust me, you'll be seeing a lot more from this collection on me.

Dog Days

Wearing:
Jumpsuit - Missguided | Jacket - Mudd | Sneakers - Adidas Superstars | Purse - Clark's | Belt - Target

While I was in Portland, I was able to see my aunt and uncle who brought their dog with them.  Terrence, the dog's name, is a real lovebug, and I just adore seeing him.  On our last night in Portland, we all went out to dinner (even Terrence), and afterwards walked back to our hotel.  On our way back. I decided that I just needed to take some pictures with Terrence because who doesn't love pictures with dogs?
A couple of weeks ago I ordered this jumpsuit from Missguided.  I've been a fan of the culotte trend for a while now, but I find it hard to find a shape that suites me.  The last time culottes made an appearance on here was one of my 'Trends My Mom Hates' posts (luckily I think my mom has grown on the trend a bit).  I prefer culottes that are made from a thicker fabric and hold their shape; this jumpsuit does just that.  To keep it casual, I paired it with my Adidas and a leather jacket.  After such a busy wedding weekend, no one was really wanting to put in a ton of effort into their clothes.  I wore this jumpsuit to a family brunch earlier in the day, and I was probably the most dressed up... even though I was going for casual.
This is my last Portland post.  I wish I had been able to take more pictures, but I was just so busy because of the wedding that I didn't have time.  But I hope you enjoyed these posts, none the less!

Gigi

Wearing:
Shirt - Target, Jeans - BDG at Urban Outfitters, Sneakers - Adidas, Belt - Target

I recently saw this picture of Gigi Hadid (below) and thought, 'Hey, I have that outfit.'  Or, atleast, the look for less.  I've always loved trying to recreate celebrity looks for less (remember the Taylor Swift shoot I did with my friend?).  It's a way for me to not feel as far away from the fashion world.  To start with the recreation, I went straight to my closet.  Though I'm not sure exactly where she bought her shirt, I rather positive that she didn't get it at Target.  A subtle change I did regarding my look was to button my shirt all the way up; as someone who's rather busty, I don't really care for low cut/unbuttoned shirts.  The jeans were the trickiest part to recreate in the sense that 1) I don't own leather pants, and 2) I would never want to wear them in this summer heat.  So instead I opted for my favorite pair of black, high waist jeans.  And, obviously, I have the exact same sneakers!  Needless to say, they were the easiest part of the look.  I finished the look with a nude lipstick that I picked up and a touch of bronzy eyeshadow (not that you can really see it in the pictures; I waited until too late in the day to take them - oops).
This will definitely not be the last time Gigi inspires my OOTD.

Black is the Warmest Color

Wearing:
Shirt - Forever 21, Dress - Target, Sneakers - Adidas, Sunglasses - Tahari

Summer can be hard when your favorite color is black.  This summer, I'm trying to introduce more colors into my wardrobe; so far I have not been very successful.  Black is just so easy and always chic.  This LBD is a favorite of mine because it's so easy to layer (I love it so much that I also have this dress in brown).  Why I chose to layer a long sleeve, roll-neck shirt with this dress in the middle of June is still a question to me, but I do like the way it looked.  What can I say - I'm a sucker for turtlenecks.  I also added a red lip because I felt that it's been far too long since I wore one.
In other news, I started my first job last week, and I'll be starting an internship at a wedding boutique next week.  My summer will definitely be busier than past ones, but I'm excited for what's to come!

Petals

Wearing:
Shirt - Topshop, Skirt - Zara, Sneakers - Adidas Superstars, Necklace - Target, Sunglasses - Tahari

Spring is easily my favorite season.  I love the rain that's often seen, but the best part is the spring bloom.  I wish that the flowers would last longer, as they're often gone after a week or so, but they're gorgeous while they're here.
I wanted to wear something that wouldn't distract from the pink flowers, so I stuck to neutral colors.  This midi skirt from Zara has been a favorite of mine ever since I bought it in January.  It was also pretty hot when I took these photos, so I just wore a tee and sneakers.  I was wearing a different shirt, but I only lasted about 15 minutes before I changed into something lighter.
I'm hoping to get at least one more day of flowers from the trees so I can get more photos, but we'll see.  Now that school is over, I'm hoping to have more time for pictures.

Almost There

Wearing:
Pinafore - Boohoo, Blouse - Primark, Sneakers - Adidas Superstars, Necklace - Target, Cuff - H&M

Sorry for the absence.  I've been crazy busy with school lately; all of my final projects have been due this week and next week are the exams, so I've been working to finish all of them in time.  Unfortunately, this means that I had to put my blog to the back burner.
I managed to take these pictures sometime last week.  Last week felt like summer; everyday it was sixty to seventy degrees and no jacket was needed.  This week, it definitely felt like spring.  It's rained everyday with the exception of yesterday when it snowed.  Yep.  You read that correctly.  Snow.  I hate to say it, but it's actually not that unusual for it to snow in April.  Last year we were hit with a ton, but it usually only lasts for a day or so before the sun returns.  Last week I was able to get away with this light, pinafore look... this week I've been cosied up in jumpers and coats.  That's unpredictable weather for you.
