Happy Holidays everyone!  As mellow as my Christmas was, it was also surprisingly busy.  I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner with some family friends.  It was very quiet, which I enjoyed.  At the same time, I felt like I had hardly any time to do things with my friends.  I received some beautiful presents and some fun presents (it ranged from We're the Millers on dvd to a Barbie to a faux fur jacket, I'll try to post pics later).

The pictures above are from Christmas Eve. I'm wearing:
Lauren Conrad blouse, Rolla Coaster blue velvet skirt, C Label cat loafers, Rimmel London Retro Glam mascara, tokidoki felt tip eyeliner, and smashbox lip gloss.

Happy New Year guys!  I'll definitely do a new years day (maybe day after) post!

So Much Snow...

Wearing: Leather jacket (Mudd), boyfriend tee (Primark), A-line midi skirt (vintage), Converse, necklace (Target), belt (JC Penny), lipstick (MAC Red).

I've been meaning to update this forever, but with the mix of lots going because of the holidays and so, so much snow I just haven't had time to take pictures.  But finally I had enough time to take some pictures.  When I picked out this outfit, it was supposed to be the warmest day of the week (a whopping 35 degrees F), but instead it snowed a good five-ish inches.  Great.  I decided to just bear the cold and go for a skirt.  I decided to go for a sort of 1940s/50s inspiration when I picked out the skirt and the jacket.  But I also wanted to update it.  I did that with my accessories.  I really loved the retro vibe of this look.  I made a bit of a mistake when I picked out the Converse.  Let me just say that non-waterproof shoes + five inches of snow = very cold, wet feet.

Right now it's only December.  Normally snow last through February and often times March.  I hope I don't bore you too much of my winter outfits!  However it was negative 20 degrees F (!!!) a week and a half ago so I had to break out my thick Columbia jacket and snow boots, so there are many more winter outfits to come.

In case I don't post again before then, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year!

Fave Looks from MFW

Ah Milan.  What I find interesting about Milan Fashion Week is just how Italian it is.  This past summer when I went to Italy, though I didn't go to Milan, I learned that Italians are very proud to be Italian.  It's probably why Milan Fashion seems more national that other weeks.  Take Dolce & Gabbana for example.  It always looks very Italian.  But this isn't a bad thing.  In fact, I feel this is what makes Milan Fashion Week unique.  So now, here are my three favorite labels for MFW.

Let's start with No. 21:

No. 21 is designed by Alessandro Dell'Acqua.  I really like this collection; it maintains its Italian roots but has unique details.  The menswear influences I think go rally well with the soft fabrics and feminine shapes.  This collection has looks that could be worn to the beach, to the office, and everywhere in between.

Next is Fausto Puglisi:

This collection is so fun!  Some of this collection, I will say, are pretty unwearable.  I don't have example here, but there are these leather harness bralet things that a busty girl would never be able to wear it (or if you had any bust what so ever).  But some other pieces are just so great and fun.  I mean, look at that leather jacket that Karolina Kurkova is wearing!  Or the skirt in the top right corner, the shape on that is crazy.  He also used many colors managed to integrate them beautifully together.

And finally, Fendi:

Lovely, lovely Fendi.  But with creative director Karl Lagerfeld, how could this collection not be lovely?  My favorite part of this collection is the lines that he was able to create.  It was so hard to pick just four pictures, because every look innovative.  The way he managed to combine so many different fabrics and colors is just impeccable.  Now let's just take a moment to admire the leather jacket on the bottom left.  I have never seen a neckline like that before.  Words cannot express how much I would love to have that jacket.  And then how it's paired with a sheer dress?  Perfect.

Thanks everyone for viewing!  My review on Paris Fashion Week is coming soon!

First Snow

This Saturday the first "real" snow fell.  Snow is not my favorite thing in the world.  I know, I live in the mountains.  Of course there's going to be snow.  I just hope that in a few years I won't be living in a place with quite so much snow.
On Saturday was also an exciting evening for me.  A local band was releasing their second album, and I was invited to their album release party!  I was pretty excited because I had never gone to an event like this before.  Things like this don't happen much in my town.

For an album release party, I wanted to go for a cool edgy look.  At the same time, it was pretty cold out (stupid snow) so   I'm wearing:
Calvin Klein jeans, a long sleeve Arizona tee, an H&M faux leather vest, Bongo boots, and an IMOSHIAN purse.
Regarding makeup, I wanted to stand out but not overshadow.  I decided to go with my favorite MAC lipstick in MAC Red and Rimmel London's new Scandal Eyes Retro mascara in very black.

The band is so good!  They're called Basement Jazz.  The amazing thing is that they are all teenagers in the band.  I even bought their cd.  It was a great night of music and hot chocolate.

Fave Looks from LFW

I meant to do this sooner but oh well.  Here are my fave looks from London Fashion Week.  The thing I love about London Fashion Week, and Milan Fashion Week too, is that it just seems more fun than New York or Paris.  Don't get me wrong, I love both New York and Paris Fashion Week, but New York I feel has to start so a lot of the looks from there are less avant garde because it has to gain a large audience.  While Paris is practically the exact opposite from New York; since it's closing fashion week it's usually a lot more couture and crazy extravagant.  Those are both great, but I feel that London and Milan have more options on what they want to show.  Some seasons are more crazy than others.  This season I felt that London was pretty wearable, but there were also some avant garde collections.

The first collection I'm starting with is David Koma:

I didn't know a lot about David Koma before I saw this collection, so I decided to do a bit of research on him.  Originally from Georgia (the country not the state), he is currently based in London.  And though his first collection at LFW was SS2011, he has been designing since he was 15.
Anyway, I just loved to simplicity of this collection.  He used very few colors in his collection; other than the black, white, and blue shown above he also used a pastel salmon and pastel blue.  I love all the lines he was able to create with just simple colors and shapes.

The next collection is Roksanda Ilincic:

This collection is differs a lot from David Koma's collection.  This collection uses lots of and variety of different shapes.  This collection uses lots of black, white, grey, yellow, and bright orange.  Some looks are just black and/or white, while others mix all of those colors.  Regarding shapes of pieces, I loves all of the differences.  She has lots of midi skirts and some knee length dresses.  There's also lots of tapered trousers and oversized tops.  My absolute favorite part of this collection though?  The fabulous shoes!

The third and final collection I will be talking about is Erdem:

I think Erdem might just be my favorite collection from London Fashion Week.  It had many complex pieces, yet they just had such an ease to them.  The flowiness of so many of the fabrics gave such a lightness.  Much of this collection was black and white, and almost every look had a flowy/soft/easy part about it.  This collection was just so beautiful I'm almost at a lost for words.  I also love the shoes they paired with the collection.
The shoes themselves are actually quite hard.  Yes they do have some lace, but the lines of the shoe give it a harder vibe.  Which makes me love them even more with this super soft collection.  If they had paired ballet flats or traditional stilettos, it just wouldn't have had the same vibe.

Well, that's my review for LFW.  There are so many other shows though that I didn't mention, most notably Burberry and Topshop Unique.  Go and check out all of the shows!

Forget Homecoming!

Last weekend was homecoming at my school.  I went to homecoming last year, and I thought it was actually pretty boring.  So when a lot of my friends wanted to go to homecoming, I wanted to pass on that.  Luckily at the same time as homecoming, our locally owned theater was doing an Alfred Hitchcock movie night!  I love, love, love Hitchcock movies so of course I wanted to go.  In fact, some of my friends who wanted to go Homecoming even wanted to go to this too.  The theater was playing two of Hitchcock's biggest hits: Psycho and the Birds.  So two of my friends went to the first one with me then went to the dance afterwards.

Those two friends who went to homecoming wanted a place to get ready.  My place is relatively close to downtown, so the two of them came to my house.  I decided to join in on the fun and dress up too.  Though I didn't dress formally like my friends, I did buy myself a new dress.

I decided to go for a night look with a smoky eye and a nude lip.  I felt it really balanced well with the dress and the occasion.  I am wearing: e.l.f eyeliner and shadow stick in smoke/black, 17 Va Va Voom mascara in blackest black, and L'Oreal Paris Color Riche lipstick in fairest nude.

I am wearing: a Mosimo dress from Target, plain black tights, black wedges from Target, and a silver necklace from Forever 21.  Even though this dress is just from Target, it's actually super edgy and trendy.  The sleeves are made out of neoprene!  How cool is that?  I definitely have an obsession with neoprene right now.

Before the movie, we met another friend downtown and went to dinner at this cute little café.  Only one of us had ever been there before.  You could definitely tell that it was homecoming because there was another big group of teenagers dressed to the nines there.

I had a great time at the movies and even got some other friends to stay and watch the second movie.  My Hitchcock review?  I love both of those movies equally!  I know, I know, it seems like a cop out.  But those movies are just so different from each other.  I just can't choose a favorite!

Halloween 2013

The moment I looked at my haircut, I knew exactly what I wanted to be for Halloween: Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine.  For a lot of people, that's not what comes to for a Halloween costume.  But my friend and I had this plan where I would be Anna Wintour and he would be Karl Lagerfeld.  Unfortunately, he wasn't able to dress up as Karl, but that didn't stop me from being Anna.

To be Anna, there were certain things I knew that I needed key pieces to pull off the look:
Big sunglasses
A matching Chanel suit
Nude Manolo Blahniks
A necklace

Well I knew that I wouldn't be able to get my hands on an actual Chanel suit or actual Manolo Blahniks.  That meant trips to Target, TJ Maxx, Goodwill, and other thrift stores.  The result actually turned out rather well.

I present you now with Anna Wintour:
I ended up wearing a matching jacket and skirt from Target, a blouse from JCP, wedges from TJ Maxx, sunglasses from Rue 21, and a vintage pearl necklace from London, and the November issue of American Vogue.

Haircut

So lately one of my close friends was telling me that I have had the same haircut forever.  The more I though about it, the more I realized he was right.  I've had many different colors and lengths, but I've always had the same basic style: lots of layers and fringe (bangs).  So I decided I needed a change.

Here is the before picture:
I got the pink in my hair on my second to last day in London.  It lasted surprisingly long, but it was all gone by the end of September.  Other than the pink, this is what my hair looked like before I got it cut.

(Drum roll please.)

After:
Ta-da!  I cut off at least six inches.  I decided to keep my fringe but get rid of all the layers!  I seriously don't remember the last time I didn't have any layers in my hair.  The length is right above the shoulders, and I just love it.  It's pretty different hairstyle than most of the girls in my school; most girls have long hair, no fringe, and either one or no layers.

Remember when Emma Watson cut off all of her hair to pixie cut and said in an interview that it made her feel sexier?  That's exactly how I felt!  I just felt so great and so different (in a great way)!  I love my haircut, and it was so worth it to cut so much off.

London Calling

My favorite part of the trip that I took this summer was definitely London.  London is my favorite city in the world, and I know that I will live there.  So here are my favorite photos from London.

This is my favorite photo ever.  My dad took this while the tube was moving behind us.  I just love everything about this.

Here I'm in front of Tower Bridge.  I had to take off my hat because it was windy and was afraid of it blowing away.  At the beginning of the summer, I was wearing a hat, and it blew onto the roof of Petsmart.  Amazing, the employees went to the roof and got it down for me, but I still didn't want to take any chances this time.
Wearing:  Forever 21 blouse, American Apparel shorts, Boohoo ankle boots, H&M bowler hat, Topshop satchel

I quickly put the hat on for a photo opt here.

For lunch, my dad and I went to this little place in the financial district.  After lunch, I ordered this dessert that was some sort of cross between pudding and molten chocolate cake.  I was one of the most amazing desserts I have ever had.

Finally, this is some London street style.  I find myself heavily influenced by London style, so to be able to actually go to London and see the style for myself was a dream.  London style is a bit edgier, yet also very fun.  It's able to mix lots of black with colors.  I love it.

London is amazing.  I really hope I can go back there soon.

Fave Looks from NYFW

Since fashion month has officially ended, I decided to look over some of my favorite looks/collections from the different weeks.  New York fashion week was first, so here are my favorite collections.

Rag & Bone

Prabal Gurung

Marc by Marc Jacobs

Personally I felt a bit disappointed with some of the collections this season.  But, these are collections I felt were the most... what word am I looking for?  I don't know, but these collections are definitely my favorite.  I wish that I could have gone to NYFW, but I know that someday I will go.  But today, I have homework.
