For Christmas my mom and I visited my aunt and my cousin.  Like I said in an earlier post, we had a great Christmas that was very relaxing.  Today, I managed to convince my cousin to come and take some blog photos with me in our new Christmas sweaters (I got her the one she's wearing, and she and my aunt got mine for me).
So this is my thirteen year old cousin, Sydney.  I told her she looks like Russian street style star in this (it doesn't help that she's like 5'8'' and wearing two inch heels; she towers over all of us).  She got the jumper, the vest, and the hat for Christmas.  She's currently obsessed with the vest and hat, and she very well should be because they look great on her.
Now regarding my look, basically everything I'm wearing I got for Christmas.  My mom got me the skirt, and my aunt got me the jumper, the shoes, and the purse.  The jumper is just so, so cozy, and I love the way it contrasts with the skirt and the shoes.  Aren't these shoes just amazing?  Even though I probably won't be able to wear them for a while where I live (my aunt and cousin don't live in a state where it's very snowy, so I can where them there), but I'm so excited to actually wear them when it gets warmer.  I also love the purse; it fits my phone perfectly (I forgot to mention, I got an iPhone for Christmas: yay!)
Also, I forgot to mention this earlier, but this is my 100th post!  I can't believe I actually made it to 100!  This blog has become such a passion of mine, and everyone's support has really meant a lot.  Thank you so much!!

Where's the Snow?

 Wearing:
Jacket - Mudd (Kohls), Blouse - H&M, Jeans - Gap, Shoes - Kohls, Necklace - Target, Belt - JC Penneys

Happy day after Christmas everyone!  My Christmas was very relaxing and enjoyable with some close family.  These photos were taken maybe a week or two ago when something weird happened: the snow melted.  We had an unusually warm December week (people were joking that it was May warm), and all of the snow melted.  Everyone wore shorts and t-shirts to school without any coats; it was pretty ridiculous.
The blouse I'm wearing I bought while I was in H&M.  I hadn't worn it yet, so that's where I started my look.  I'm always cold when I wear my leather jacket, so I only wear it on warm days.  I then threw on my boyfriend jeans and added gold accessories.  I was going to try to take advantage of the fact that there was very little snow and wear some ankle boots, but I couldn't find any that worked with the jeans and had gold hardware.  Because of that, I decided on my new oxfords.
Regarding makeup, I found a tinted Covergirl lipbalm that I forgot that I had, and I thought the color looked really good with the look.

Eve

Wearing:
Coat - Forever 21, Top - Forever 21, Jeans - Topshop, Shoes - Converse
Lipstick - M.A.C. Red lipstick with Cherry liner

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!  I'll keep this post short and sweet, as I'm sure you want to be spending time with your friends and family.  I bought this great jacket from Forever 21 when I was in California for Thanksgiving.  It came with a detachable faux-fur collar, which is incredibly soft, but I like the look of the jacket slightly more without the collar because it gives more of the tailored, menswear look.  I've been after a grey coat for a long while now, but all of the ones that I've liked were way out of my price range.  Luckily this jacket was only $60 to begin with, but it was half off so I got it for $30!  I paired this jacket with black jeans, black Converse, and a black and white striped tee (which I also purchased on the Thanksgiving trip).  Then, to pop against the look and the snow, I added my classic red lipstick.
Merry Christmas everyone!  I probably won't post tomorrow, as it's Christmas day, but I think I'm going to try to post the day after.  Happy Holidays!!

My Taylor Swift Project

 Wearing:
Coat - H&M, Dress - Target, Purse - vintage, Shoes - Target

 Wearing:
Shirt - H&M, Skirt - Kohls, Purse - Kenneth Cole Reaction

 Wearing:
Shirt - H&M, Skirt - home made, Purse - Coach

Wearing:
Dress - Bar III

First I would like to say, "Happy Birthday," to my friend Christina who's birthday was over the weekend!  Anyway, if you couldn't guess, her biggest idol is Taylor Swift.  As a sort of birthday gift to her, I had an idea to dress Christina up as her.
I shot these looks a while ago, which is why there is no snow on the ground (and why she can actually go outside in a skirt.)I started with this fringed dress that once belonged to my mother.  It fit Christina like a glove, and paired with cowboy boots, it gave the perfect essence of Taylor Swift from a couple of years ago.
I then moved onto to Taylor's, now famous street style.  I originally came up with this concept because I noticed that I own many similar clothing items as Taylor Swift, and yet I don't associate our clothing styles to be similar at all.  When I decided to actually do the shoot with Christina, she had some shoes and accessories which I didn't have and completed the look.
Even though these pictures weren't shot in the streets of New York City, I think the outfits speak for themselves and outweigh the fact that we are in the middle of nowhere.  I want to say my favorite is the checkered crop top with the pencil skirt, but honestly I can't choose a favorite look because I think they all turned out so well.  (Christina also has a new kitten, a similar age to Taylor Swift's Olivia Benson, but Christina's kitten did not want to be photographed that day.)  Which look is your favorite?

Lemons Make Lemonade

Wearing:
Jumper - Etam, Skirt - Target, Boots - Simply Vera (Kohls)

My final post from my California trip.  My grandparents have this great lemon tree in there back yard, and I just knew I wanted to take some photos there.  The lemons were perfectly ripe, making it a great, bright backdrop for the photos.
While I was in California, my grandma took me Christmas shopping.  We went to Kohls, and I found these perfect over the knee boots.  In an earlier post I talked about how I was craving them, and at the time they were out of my price range.  So I was incredibly happy when I found these when Christmas shopping.  I think they fit my style perfectly, as they have a great chunky heal and some cool details without being too overbearing.  I love the look of over the knee boots with skirts and dresses, so for this look I wanted to do just that (and as I've mentioned in all of my other California posts, it was warm so I actually could wear a skirt!).  I paired the boots with one of my favorite skirts right now because the length is perfect for the height of the boots.  Remembering that I would be shooting against a lemon tree, I decided to go for a completely black and white look so I could pop against the yellows and greens of the tree.  I considered doing a purple lip with this, but I thought it might look too... costumey.  I decided to keep my face bare so the outfit didn't read that.
I love looking back at all of my California photos.  As I look out my window now, I see almost a foot of snow outside.  I'm sure I'll be able to see the grass again soon though, you know, maybe April.

Lipstick Makes Everything Better

Wearing:
Jumpsuit - Topshop, Boots - Steve Madden, Hat - Vintage, Belt - JC Penny's
Lipstick - M.A.C. Red

It's hard to be a blogger when you don't have access to internet.  Normally when your internet company tells you they're upgrading your internet, it's a good thing.  At first I was excited but two new wifi routers later (soon to be three), not so much.  So I apologize for not posting; my mother claimed the internet modum for her computer, meaning I had to share her computer, which I have no pictures on.  Today was the first day I was able to plug my computer directly into the modum, but it's only because I have a big English paper due on Friday.  Hopefully by this coming week the wifi will be all figured out.
Because I haven't posted in a while, these photos are actually from Thanksgiving, when I was in California.  I hadn't worn my jumpsuit in a long while, so I decided, before I actually left for California, that I would wear my jumpsuit on Thanksgiving.  It's sometimes hard to find shoes to wear with this because of the way the legs are cut, in the end I wanted to take advantage of the warm California weather and wear my leopard print ankle boots.  While I was in California and staying with my grandparents, my grandma gave me this great vintage fedora.  I had actually been looking for a fedora just like this, so it was an amazing coincidence that my grandma had one just like what I was looking for.  I thought it just topped off the outfit perfectly, along with the black and gold belt.  I considered doing a cat eye for this look, but I decided red lipstick would just pop against all of the black I was wearing.
Sorry for the ranting above; I've just been so frustrated with the internet situation I needed to get it off of my chest.  I think I should get my wifi back this week, so I'll try to post!  But then again I do have a big English paper due on Friday... never the less, I'll do my best to post!

Utilitarian

Wearing:
Jacket - The Gap, Jeans - Topshop, T-Shirt - Forever 21, Boots - Dr. Martens, Purse - Ross

Not too much to say in this post.  I got this jacket a little bit ago, and I just don't wear it as much as I should.  Unfortunately it's much too light of a jacket to to wear currently where I live, but I decided it would be a great piece to take to California.  It gives me a utilitarian vibe, so I decided to run with it.  I added my trusty Docs because you really just can't have a utilitarian look without some kind of boot.  To keep it simple and not too over powering, I just went with my black Joni jeans from Topshop and a grey, striped tee.  Finally I threw on my small black and white purse, and I was good to go!

San Francisco Fun

Wearing:
Coat - H&M, Dress - Pimkie, Boots - Dr. Martens, Purse - Ross

While I was in California for Thanksgiving, I was able to spend a lovely day in San Francisco.  My mom and I took the ferry to the and went to Union Square.  I had the intent of doing a ton of shopping, but I didn't quite find exactly what I was looking for.  I did get a top from Forever 21, tasty macarons, and some random things at a Japanese dollar store (including blue lipstick).  For lunch, my mom and I stopped at a lovely Irish pub.  After that, we roamed more shops, including H&M and Nordstrom, and took some pictures of the city.  Other than that we didn't do too, too much.  Just being in the city was fun, even if I didn't do anything too "special."
Now, onto what I was wearing.  I wanted to wear something that I could really wear right now where I'm from (that was basically the theme of the whole trip).  I started with this dress that I bought when I was in Paris this past summer.  Riding the ferry can be a bit chilly, because you're out on the bay, so I added tights to the look.  Knowing that I would be doing a ton of walking around the city, I knew that I needed to wear comfortable shoes, which is why I decided to go for my Dr. Martens (people are always surprised when I tell them that my Docs are one of my most comfortable pairs of shoes).  Lastly I wore my favorite coat, which I ended up carrying most of the day because it was so warm once I got to the city, and my small black and white purse.
It was actually really funny walking around the city and seeing all of the locals who were clearly very cold as everyone was wearing their down coats -- it was only 60 degrees!  However my mom and I were walking around without any coats on and sweating.  When we left the mountains it was 0 degrees, and when I got back it was -15 degrees.  So 60 degrees felt amazing to us!

Warm California Days

Wearing:
Dress - Target, Cardigan - Target, Shoes - Kohls, Purse - Kenneth Cole Reaction (Ross)

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving!  I was lucky enough to be able to leave my cold town and go to the San Francisco Bay Area in California for Thanksgiving to visit family.  So naturally I brought all the clothes that I can't wear now because of the weather.  It was amazing to be able to put on a dress without worrying about my legs freezing.  I paired this striped dress with a simple black cardigan, a pop of red with my purse, and my new oxfords that my grandma bought for me.  Normally I would have just worn Converse with this dress, but I just couldn't wait to try out my new shoes.

After going to California, I feel re-energized.  I always get rather bored and tired when the winter comes, and with all the stress I have at school right now (not to mention college applications), I've been wearing a lot of jeans and jumpers.  And if I did wear something more fun, by the time I would get home from school it would be way too dark to take any pictures.  This makes me frustrated because blogging is one of my favorite hobbies to do.  Being in California allowed me to relax and wear some clothes the final time of the season.  There, I was able to take pictures almost everyday, so I have plenty more posts to come!  Yay!

(P.S. I now have Google Friend Connect; I'd love it if you follow me!)
