It's the Season of Denim

Wearing:
Pinafore - Boohoo, Shirt - Forever 21, Sneakers - Adidas Superstars

Ever since the revival of the 1970s trend, I've noticed denim gradually becoming more and more popular.  Other than your basic jeans, I had pretty much resisted the trend (mainly because I was yet to see anything that I really liked).  However, in this month alone I've purchased multiple denim items, including this pinafore here.  I had seen some pinafores similar to this one on other sites that were pricier, but when I found this particular pinafore I knew the price and style were perfect.
As much as I love longer lengths on skirts, this one can be a bit tricky to style because of wear it hits me.  I first tried pairing my new ankle boots (seen here), however I found that the combination of the two cut me off in a weird place.  Next I tried my Superstars with it and fell in love.  Finally I threw on this long sleeve striped shirt because I liked how the stripes on the shirt tied in with the stripes on the sneakers (and because this is my absolute favorite shirt, and I wear it all the time).
Stay tuned to see the other denim piece(s) I just got, along with the rest of my new back to school clothes!  (I'm super excited about them, can you tell?)

It's College Time

Wearing:
Shirt - Kohls, Skirt - & Other Stories, Boots - Kohls
Lipstick - M.A.C. Red with Cherry Liner

First I would like to apologize for the not-so-great quality of some of these photos.  I had my camera set on landscape from some previous photos that I had taken, but I didn't realize it until a few hours later after I had finished with these pictures.
On Monday, it was my first day of College!  Right now I'm attending my local university so I can save money and transfer somewhere more interesting in a year or so.  This first week has been rather stressful just because of all the change.  Even though I'm going to school down the street, it's still a different education environment than what I'm used to.
For my first day of school look, I actually had a lot of trouble picking out something to wear.  Normally I have my first day outfit picked out at least one month before the start of school (if not more), but this year I just decided on this about a day and a half before.  This year I just wasn't as expired which led to me having trouble finding a direction.  I recently picked up this shirt from Kohls, and I was instantly attracted to it because of it's marble-like pattern; this had given me more interest for a first day look than anything else I had considered yet.  To make it stand out, I kept the rest of the look simple by only wearing my favorite black skirt and a new pair of black ankle boots.  Finally I added my favorite red lipstick because, really, it goes with everything.
I hope everyone else has (or had) a great first day of school!  I'm sure it will be a great year for everyone!

Everywhere Yet Nowhere: The Infamous Adidas Superstars

Let me tell you a story:
Once upon a time I was in New York for Teen Vogue's Fashion University.  While I was there, I noticed a number of girls wearing these sneakers.  To be honest, at first I didn't really like them; I thought they looked a bit bulky and frankly, too white.  I grew up with my parents telling me that only American tourists would wear white sneakers and chic Europeans would never dare touch them (it's rather funny considering both of my parents are American).  Anyway, I came home from the trip and don't really think about them much more.
Fast forward to about May.  At this point I've decided I want a pair of fashionable sneakers.  I had been looking at New Balance primarily, but I kept seeing these around social media.  I look at them with fresh eyes and realize how versatile and chic they are.  After that realization, I'm not sure whether I want these, a pair from New Balance, or even some Nikes (I wrote about my dilemma here).  At some point, I decide I want these, and my unknowingly long search begins.
Starting around June I begin checking online to find a pair (already knowing nowhere in town sells them).  I check site after site; each one is either sold out of them completely or only sells men's sizes.  I would complain about not finding them anywhere to my mom, to which she would say that she just can't believe they're that popular because she hadn't seen anyone in town wearing them; I had to remind her that we live in the middle of nowhere, a place where trends just don't seem to pass through.
I continued my search online until August, which was when I was able travel.  I thought that since I was visiting bigger cities, they would for sure have them.  Well I couldn't find them in Fort Collins or even all of Seattle (after checking about a dozen stores that should have had them (or at least should have had them in my size), a store employee told me that he didn't think any store would have them in the ENTIRE Seattle area).  I left feeling defeated, thinking that I would maybe never be able to get my hands on them.
Last week, I was checking sites again, when behold Champ Sports had restocked!  I put them in my card faster than the Flash himself.  To me, it was actually funny that I found these on the Champ Sports website because it was at one of their stores when that employee told me he didn't think I'd be able to find them.  This was definitely a victory.
I guess I didn't realize just how popular they really were, but I suppose the moral to my story here is patience.  Be patient and hopefully things will play out in your favor.  :)

Seattle Sunset

Wearing:
Dress - Boohoo, Shirt - Forever 21, Sandals - Target

August has always been a hard month for me to post in, as it always seems to be the month where I do most of my summer travel.  This month, I visited both Fort Collins, Colorado and Seattle, Washington.  My trip to Fort Collins was rather short, so I really didn't get any photos.  I was in Seattle for about a week and had a wonder trip.  I've always loved the city, and I wish I had taken more pictures, however I was able to get these beautiful beach photos.
These pictures were taken on Alki Beach in West Seattle; I used to visit there when I was young, but I hadn't been in ages.  The water was chilly, as expected, but it was terrific to just dip my feet in.  I knew going to the beach that I wanted to wear a short dress so I wouldn't have to worry about getting my clothes wet.  I recently purchased this dress from boohoo (early back to school shopping/late summer shopping), but Seattle is notorious for being chilly, which is why I decided to layer this striped shirt underneath.  And of course, my sandals were a must (because who wants to wear socks to a beach?).
Next week, I start school at my local university.  I'll be back on a regular schedule, which means I should be better about posting.  (I always think that I'm going to post more during the summer when in reality I think I need a schedule to help me keep track on posting.  Oh well.)
