Goodnight

Wearing:
Coat - John Lewis, Shirt - Forever 21, Jeans - BDG (Urban Outfitters), Boots - Monki, Bag - Oasis

On my last night in London, my mom and I took a short walk around the neighborhood.  It wasn't anything too exciting, but it was nice to be able to take the time to appreciate where we were staying.  I've always adored the pastel homes that can be found all around London, so I loved that some were walking distance from where we were staying.  I think it worked well that I ended up wearing only black, white, and grey because it allowed for the houses (and my lipstick) to really stand out.
I've been home for about a month now, and I already desperately miss London.  This is my last London post from this trip, so that means "regular" posts will be back.  However, if all goes well, I'm hoping to be back in the UK this fall.  Let's see what happens....

Nearby Gardens

Wearing:
Coat - John Lewis, Jumper - New Look, Jeans - BDG from Urban Outfitters, Boot - Candies from Kohls, Purse - Clarks

Right across from where I was staying was a cute little garden; it would be a perfect place for morning coffee... when it's not raining.  Unfortunately for me, it rained for the majority of the days I was there.  However that didn't stop me from its photogenic beauty.  I knew from the moment I arrived that I wanted to take pictures in there.
While I was in London, I treated myself to a new coat from the department store John Lewis.  As far as I'm aware, John Lewis isn't available in America, so this made it a great souvenir  to remember the trip.  I know that I already have a grey coat that's somewhat similar to this (see: all of my other London posts), but I've always wanted a really nice coat, and my other one is just from Forever 21.  Putting it on for the first time just felt amazing (and not just because it's made from Italian wool).
This was the first time wearing my new coat, so I wanted a simple look that would put the focus on the coat.  I love the combination of the colors grey and camel, and I had just picked up this jumper from New Look earlier in the week; together the two pieces complimented each other beautifully.  Not wanting to bring more colors in, I figured black jeans and boots would be best (because is black really a color?).
Walking back to where I was staying, I saw this blue door.  Even though it's clearly not the same blue door from the movie "Notting Hill," I just couldn't resist a picture.

Look Kids, Big Ben!

Wearing:
Coat - Forever 21, Jumper - JCPenny, Skirt - Zara, Boots - Candies (Kohls), Tote - Oasis, Gloves - Target

Back in the swing of things!  This week I started back at school, so I'm now officially in my second semester at university!  In other news, though, I've also officially sent in my transfer applications to universities in the UK!  I'm so excited, but first I have to wait.
Even though I'm back at school, I still have tons of London photos that I want to share!  My mom and I stopped by Big Ben on Christmas Eve; we didn't go inside Parliament or anything, but we took lots of pictures on the bridge and by the river.  It was incredibly windy and made me regret wearing a skirt.  There were multiple occasions, especially when I was right by the river, when I felt like I was going to have a Marilyn moment.  It also became very cold, and as you can see in some of the above photos, I had to put on gloves.  At least I was wearing a warm jumper!
Even though I was cold, seeing Big Ben was a great way to spend Christmas Eve.  I still have some London posts left, so stay tuned!
(Oh, also I hope you like the joke I made in the title; if you don't get it, it's just a reference to the movie European Vacation.)

Spitalfields

Wearing:
Coat - Forever 21, Shirt - Zara, Trousers - Jennifer Lopez for Kohls, Sneakers - Adidas Superstars, Bag - Oasis

I really wanted to see all parts of London, so on this day of the trip my mom and I ventured out to the East End.  We spent the beginning of the day vintage shopping out by Brick Lane, where I unfortunately forgot to take any pictures.  On Brick Lane, there was a specific shop that I wanted to stop at: Hunky Dory Vintage.  If you've seen the movie About Time (my favorite movie), the character of Mary lives above that shop, so it became a top priority of mine.  It was at the very end of Brick Lane (the opposite end from where I started), but once I found it, it was a great shop!  They have tons of clothes and accessories from the 1950s and 1960s, but it goes up to the 1980s.  There I tried on an adorable, grey, 1960s dress, but alas, it was too small.  I didn't leave empty handed though,  as I found a small, black and red purse that I would guess is also from the 1960s.
After roaming around Brick Lane, we found ourselves at Old Spitalfields Market.  We didn't do too much shopping there, just a gift bought for a friend, but we did eat at Square Pie Company.  When I was in London in 2013, I also went to Spitalfields Market and ate at Square Pie Company, and it was still as good now as it was then.
I found it interesting how modern the East End was.  People always hear about the East End being rough and dodgy, but many new businesses are opening up in the area, thus gentrifying the area.  With the gentrification of the area, there are many, many modern buildings that you wouldn't find in many other areas of London.  I probably took too many pictures, but I just loved the contrast of the old and the new.
I picked up this turtleneck at Zara and immediately fell in love with it.  I'm not sure if you can tell, but in the corner of the shirt it has a heart with wings, a cassette tape, and a donut.  Being a fan of turtlenecks and donuts, how could I say no to this shirt?  Wanting to keep this look kind of casual, I decided to wear my Adidas but also these looser trousers for a bit of a different shape from my skinny jeans.  I also noticed that it seemed like 90% of London women have this "drop all/hobo" style tote bag; when I found this suede and leather one on clearance at Oasis I decided to pick it up.  Finally I wore my grey, Forever 21 coat because it was the only coat I brought with me.

Kensington Palace and Gardens

The Orangerie

Wearing:
Vest - Primark, Shirt - Boohoo, Jeans - BDG (Urban Outfitters), Boots - Candies (Kohls), Tote - Target

Before I left on my trip to England, my mom and I watched the movie The Young Victoria.  It tells the story of how Queen Victoria came to be queen and her relationship with her (soon to be) husband Albert.  It's a beautiful movie that I loved, and much of the movie takes place at Kensington Palace.  After looking into it, I knew that I had to visit it.
Unfortunately, part of the outside of the Palace was under construction (which is why I didn't take too many pictures of the outside), but once I stepped inside, I could instantly feel the history.  My mom and I walked through all of the inside, including the King's Quarters, the Queen's Quarters, and the fashion exhibit of clothes owned by Princess Margaret, Queen Elizabeth, and Princess Diana.  After touring all of the Palace, my mom and I walked across the gardens to The Orangerie, where we had afternoon tea (for pictures of tea, check out my instagram).  I'm really not much of a tea person, but being able to have tea with a beautiful view of Kensington Gardens and Palace, it's definitely an incredible experience I'll never forget.
