On the Verge

Wearing:
Jacket - WhoWhatWear for Target | Dress - H&M | Sneakers - Adidas Superstars | Choker - Self made | Lipstick - Clinique

Does anyone else sometimes feel like they're on the verge of getting sick, having a nervous breakdown, and huge changes in life at the same time?  Okay, having a nervous breakdown may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I have a lot going on in my life right now.  I think I've mentioned this on here before, but I'll be moving to London for school next month.  I've never lived on my on before, and I've never lived in a big city before.  As nervous as I am about this huge change in my life, I'm so, so excited!  That being said, that also means there will be changes here, too.  I'm going to have an actual post about the changes coming to the blog, but let me just warn you that this blog won't be the same in a months time.
As you also may have noticed, I wore this jacket in my last post; that's because this jacket has hardly left my body since I've gotten it.  It's the perfect weight for this transitional summer-to-autumn period.  Also, I just can't get enough of this WhoWhatWear collection for Target.  I try and try to save my money for the move, but each time I step into Target, this collection draws me in, and I can't resist!  Trust me, you'll be seeing a lot more from this collection on me.

One Last Time

Wearing:
Jacket - WhoWhatWear for Target | Shirt - WhoWhatWear for Target | Jeans - BDG for Urban Outfitters | Boots - Candie's

As summer is coming to an end, it's sadly time for friends to start leaving for school.  My friend Heather is leaving this coming week to go back to university, and while my other friend Veronika will be staying in town for school, I'll be leaving next month.  To have one last summer hurrah, we decided to spend a day downtown thrift shopping, eating, and taking lots of photos.  We spent the afternoon going to various thrift shops looking at clothes and vintage musical instruments.  We spent went to a local burger place which is always delicious.  Finally I convinced my friends to let me take some photos of them.  It was a bit challenging to find a spot to place my camera so we could all be in a picture together, but eventually we found one spot that worked.  Another challenge was the sun; even though it created some cool shadows, our eyes were not a fan.  I'll definitely miss my friends when I go off to school next month, but I'm excited for the adventure ahead of me!
As for my outfit, is anyone else as obsessed with the WhoWhatWear collection for Target as I am?  I keep trying to save my money for my impending move, but each time I go to Target I see something new that I just can't say no to.  The bomber jacket is my current fave; I just picked it up last week, and I hardly taken it off.  I paired with a simple striped shirt (also WhoWhatWear) and black jeans.  However, after seeing what my friends were wearing, I wish I had gone with blue jeans, so we could have been a 'blue jean crew.'
What do you think of where we took photos?  I'm kind of obsessed with this spot, and I'm thinking of taking more photos here, if I can, rather than in my neighborhood.  Let me know in the comments!

Dog Days

Wearing:
Jumpsuit - Missguided | Jacket - Mudd | Sneakers - Adidas Superstars | Purse - Clark's | Belt - Target

While I was in Portland, I was able to see my aunt and uncle who brought their dog with them.  Terrence, the dog's name, is a real lovebug, and I just adore seeing him.  On our last night in Portland, we all went out to dinner (even Terrence), and afterwards walked back to our hotel.  On our way back. I decided that I just needed to take some pictures with Terrence because who doesn't love pictures with dogs?
A couple of weeks ago I ordered this jumpsuit from Missguided.  I've been a fan of the culotte trend for a while now, but I find it hard to find a shape that suites me.  The last time culottes made an appearance on here was one of my 'Trends My Mom Hates' posts (luckily I think my mom has grown on the trend a bit).  I prefer culottes that are made from a thicker fabric and hold their shape; this jumpsuit does just that.  To keep it casual, I paired it with my Adidas and a leather jacket.  After such a busy wedding weekend, no one was really wanting to put in a ton of effort into their clothes.  I wore this jumpsuit to a family brunch earlier in the day, and I was probably the most dressed up... even though I was going for casual.
This is my last Portland post.  I wish I had been able to take more pictures, but I was just so busy because of the wedding that I didn't have time.  But I hope you enjoyed these posts, none the less!

Blue Star

Wearing:
Dress - Forever 21 | Scarf - BCBG Max Azria | Belt - Target | Sunglasses - Tahari

Blue Star donuts.  The last time I visited Portland, everyone was telling me that Blue Star donuts was the place to go.  So when I was back in town last week, I knew that I needed to make this a top priority.  My mom and I went Saturday morning around 9:30, and there was already a line out the door.  The shop itself is very small, and there aren't any tables to eat there.  However, there are a couple bar tops if you really just can wait to eat.  While I was waiting in line, I heard people discussing Blue Star vs. Voodoo Donuts (the other famous donut shop in Portland).  Apparently most locals find that Voodoo donuts taste like grocery store donuts and aren't worth the wait.  I've had Voodoo before and remember them being pretty good, but after having Blue Star I'd say that it's a toss-up.  Voodoo definitely has more adventurous flavors (think maple-bacon or cereal on top), but Blue Star donuts taste very gourmet.  The flavors I chose were rather simple: a glaze and a filled one with chocolate frosting and vanilla creme.  The chocolate one was my favorite, but my mom had the lemon-poppyseed and raved about it.  If you're in Portland and like donuts, Blue Star is a must.

Portland Wedding Guest

Wearing
Dress - Topshop

Hello again!  Over the past weekend, my mom and I flew down to Portland for a family wedding.  It was the second wedding I've gone to this summer, but it was completely different than the last.  This trip went by incredibly fast - we were only gone for about four days - but I always love being able to spend time in Portland.
This wedding was on the rooftop of the EcoTrust building in the Pearl District of Portland.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with Portland, the Pearl District is an older neighborhood in downtown Portland that was formally an industrial area before turning old warehouses into art galleries, businesses, and homes.  It's a very charming area that definitely showcases the revitalization of oldtown Portland.
This wedding was a bit more casual than the last one I went to, and it definitely had a 'home' environment.  Before I wore all black and was so hot, so I decided to switch it up and wear this silver, mid-length number.  I adore this dress from Topshop; when I wear it I feel like I should be in a 1970s disco combined with the slip dresses of the 1990s.  Even my styling was a mix of the two decades.  For jewelry I wore a silver choker (that my kind mother made for me) and for shoes I wore silver heeled sandals similar to the Gucci style that's popular right now.  Sorry for not having a picture of my shoes; I didn't have a ton of extra time at the wedding for pictures.
Finally, making her blog debut, is my photographer/mother!  Doesn't she look great?
Anyway, I have a couple more posts coming up with pictures from this trip, so stay tuned!
