Portland Wedding Guest

Wearing
Dress - Topshop

Hello again!  Over the past weekend, my mom and I flew down to Portland for a family wedding.  It was the second wedding I've gone to this summer, but it was completely different than the last.  This trip went by incredibly fast - we were only gone for about four days - but I always love being able to spend time in Portland.
This wedding was on the rooftop of the EcoTrust building in the Pearl District of Portland.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with Portland, the Pearl District is an older neighborhood in downtown Portland that was formally an industrial area before turning old warehouses into art galleries, businesses, and homes.  It's a very charming area that definitely showcases the revitalization of oldtown Portland.
This wedding was a bit more casual than the last one I went to, and it definitely had a 'home' environment.  Before I wore all black and was so hot, so I decided to switch it up and wear this silver, mid-length number.  I adore this dress from Topshop; when I wear it I feel like I should be in a 1970s disco combined with the slip dresses of the 1990s.  Even my styling was a mix of the two decades.  For jewelry I wore a silver choker (that my kind mother made for me) and for shoes I wore silver heeled sandals similar to the Gucci style that's popular right now.  Sorry for not having a picture of my shoes; I didn't have a ton of extra time at the wedding for pictures.
Finally, making her blog debut, is my photographer/mother!  Doesn't she look great?
Anyway, I have a couple more posts coming up with pictures from this trip, so stay tuned!

Family Heirloom

Wearing:
Coat - Vintage, Hat - Vintage, Jeans - Topshop Mom Jeans, Blouse - Zara, Shoes - DSW

Isn't great when you find family heirlooms?  I was getting dressed yesterday when I found this brown, suede coat that belonged to my grandma in the 1970s.  It's amazingly on trend, and I didn't even know we had it!  After finding this coat, I grabbed this wide-brimmed fedora that also belonged to my grandma, and what do you know?  A modern look created vintage pieces!

Slow Down

Wearing
Dress - Forever 21, Shirt - Forever 21, Boots - Kohls
Eyeshadow - Smashbox Sample from Sephora

Long time no see, am I right?  I didn't realize just how busy I was until I saw that it had been over a month since I posted!  The reason that I'm so busy is because I actually don't have any finals during finals week but before.  At my school, finals week is right now, but for me, I had to do almost everything last week.  In a sense I was lucky because I only had one exam (and it wasn't even cumulative), but I had a ton of projects.  So for the past two weeks, I had to give a Pecha Kucha presentation (if you don't know what this is, you are incredibly lucky), turn in my photography final, and finish my drawing final.  It ended up being very overwhelming to get everything done and handed in in this amount of time.
For this look, I was clearly channeling the 1970s.  Even though it was warmer than it had been the past few days, I still got pretty chilly wearing thing (as seen by my red nose in the last picture).  I was especially cold after in the evening as I went to see a local performance of "White Christmas."  I ended up wearing my coat through the entire second act.  All in all, though, I really like the look of this layer from the turtleneck and the dress.  I know I'll be wearing this look again.

Oh, wondering about this title?  Two things: 1) 2015 has gone so fast!  Who can believe that it's already December?  and 2)  A car from the parking lot was driving way too fast and almost hit my photographer (a.k.a my mom)!  It was especially unsafe considering how icy the roads are right now!

(P.S.  Stay tuned, for I have some exciting news coming up!)

The 1970s Called...

Wearing:
Dress - Forever 21, Flatforms - Target, Sunglasses - Target
Nail polish - Essence Cosmetics The Nudes #10

I wish I could say this dress is vintage, but it's actually a great find from Forever 21!  The 1970s are a major trend this season, and I'm so excited about it.  I think that the '70s were such a fun time in fashion (although the 1960s will always be my all time favorite decade); it seems that every few years the '70s tries to make a comeback, but this season it's back with a vengeance!  Every store is selling this trend, from Topshop to H&M.
When I first saw this dress, when I was in Seattle, I immediately fell in love with it, however I was a bit hesitant to get it because I had just purchased my denim pinafore dress.  After thinking about it for a few days, I decided to order it.  When it arrived, I decided to style it full-force 1970s; to achieve that I pull out my flatforms and my new angular sunglasses.  I also finally touched up my nail polish with this new bronzy/rose-gold color that I just love.
What do you think about the '70s trend?  I know people either love it or hate it; if you can't tell from this post, I pretty much love it!

Shades

Wearing:
Shirt - New Look, Skirt - H&M, Hat - vintage, Sunglasses - thrifted, Boots - Amazon

Boy have I been busy lately.  I just finished up my last week of school, which means I'm officially done with high school!  I have graduation this weekend meaning I've spent the last few weeks helping my mom clean up the house to prepare for all the family arriving for this event.

I took these photos last week sometime when I had a few minutes to spare.  I wanted to show off my new platinum hair, so I decided it would really stand out against the white top and the black hat.  After looking at the top and the hat, I went for a bit of a 1970s vibe by picking this camel skirt.  Finally I added black tights and black boots because it was still a bit chilly last week (now it is incredibly hot - I had to break out my "Birks").

Starting on Monday, I free to summer!  I'm so excited to have so much time to devote to the blog this summer! :)
