Wine Country

Wearing:
Dress - Warehouse, Jacket - Mudd, Shoes - Boohoo, Clutch - Zara

Sorry for the radio silence!  I'm so mad at myself; I only posted twice in May.  However, May was an incredibly busy for me.  I finished my first year at university, I've been applying to summer jobs, and my cousin just got married!  Over the past week, I've been in Napa, California for my cousin's wedding.  I was so excited for this wedding, as its been on the calendar for over a year.  I purchased this dress I'm wearing when I was in London in December, and since then it's been hanging in my closet waiting.  The dress is black velvet, and it may have been a bit hot for the occasion, but I loved it so much.  As I just mentioned, it was very hot at the wedding; the venue was outside at a winery in Napa and easily 90 degrees.  Should I have taken off my jacket?  Yes.  Did I take off my jacket?  No.  I just like the draped look of it too much.
I had a great time in California, but because of the craziness of the wedding, these were the only blog photos I had time to take.  But if you're interested, I have a few photos on my Instagram from the week.
Now that I'm back home, I'm hoping to have a more regular blogging schedule.  Talk soon.

Almost There

Wearing:
Pinafore - Boohoo, Blouse - Primark, Sneakers - Adidas Superstars, Necklace - Target, Cuff - H&M

Sorry for the absence.  I've been crazy busy with school lately; all of my final projects have been due this week and next week are the exams, so I've been working to finish all of them in time.  Unfortunately, this means that I had to put my blog to the back burner.
I managed to take these pictures sometime last week.  Last week felt like summer; everyday it was sixty to seventy degrees and no jacket was needed.  This week, it definitely felt like spring.  It's rained everyday with the exception of yesterday when it snowed.  Yep.  You read that correctly.  Snow.  I hate to say it, but it's actually not that unusual for it to snow in April.  Last year we were hit with a ton, but it usually only lasts for a day or so before the sun returns.  Last week I was able to get away with this light, pinafore look... this week I've been cosied up in jumpers and coats.  That's unpredictable weather for you.

Lace Love

Wearing:
Blouse - LC Lauren Conrad (old), Culottes - Boohoo, Oxfords - Steve Madden, Sunglasses - Target
Makeup:
Eyeshadow - Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tatoo in Bronze, Mascara - Estee Lauder Double Wear, Lipstick - NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rose Pink

Look!  I actually pulled my hair back for once!  For the longest time, my hair was too short to pull back (and before that, I just hated pulling it back), but after seeing some people with similar haircuts to mine and seeing them with their hair back, it inspired me to finally bring back the hair tie.  I used to not like pulling my hair back, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the style.
For this look, I was inspired by the Victorian trend that hit the fall runways.  Lace always gives off an antique/vintage look because it was so predominant in the Victorian and Edwardian eras (eras which I adore).  To give the blouse a more modern edge, I paired it with my culottes from Boohoo and these black oxfords.  In regards to makeup, I wanted to keep it more subdued so I kept the lip rather nude but added a bit bronze eyeshadow and mascara.

Getting into the routine of college has been surprisingly stressful.  I thought since my university is in my hometown and the fact that I'm not living in the residence halls, it wouldn't be too difficult of a transition.  It's really not too bad, but being in the middle of mid-terms, it feels 10x more stressful.

Having a Moment

Wearing:
Dress - Boohoo, Blouse - Primark, Sneakers - Adidas Superstars, Socks - Pimkie
Lipstick - M.A.C. Red with Cherry Liner

If you've been keeping up with my posts, I'm sure you've noticed that my Adidas Superstars are having a moment.  Even though I just got them last month, I've been wearing them a lot.  Because I've been wearing them so much, it's no surprise that they keep popping on here!
For this look, I decided to layer this summer dress to make it more appropriate for fall.  Knowing that I only have a limited number of warm days left, everything in my wardrobe has to be layer-able.  I decided to keep it rather simple just pair a simple white blouse with this dress.  And of course I added my Superstars, as they're a great shoe for walking around campus all day.  Finally I added my signature red lipstick for a pop of color.

Seattle Sunset

Wearing:
Dress - Boohoo, Shirt - Forever 21, Sandals - Target

August has always been a hard month for me to post in, as it always seems to be the month where I do most of my summer travel.  This month, I visited both Fort Collins, Colorado and Seattle, Washington.  My trip to Fort Collins was rather short, so I really didn't get any photos.  I was in Seattle for about a week and had a wonder trip.  I've always loved the city, and I wish I had taken more pictures, however I was able to get these beautiful beach photos.
These pictures were taken on Alki Beach in West Seattle; I used to visit there when I was young, but I hadn't been in ages.  The water was chilly, as expected, but it was terrific to just dip my feet in.  I knew going to the beach that I wanted to wear a short dress so I wouldn't have to worry about getting my clothes wet.  I recently purchased this dress from boohoo (early back to school shopping/late summer shopping), but Seattle is notorious for being chilly, which is why I decided to layer this striped shirt underneath.  And of course, my sandals were a must (because who wants to wear socks to a beach?).
Next week, I start school at my local university.  I'll be back on a regular schedule, which means I should be better about posting.  (I always think that I'm going to post more during the summer when in reality I think I need a schedule to help me keep track on posting.  Oh well.)

Trends My Mom Hates: Culottes

Wearing:
Top - Ross, Culottes - boohoo, Boots - Rock & Republic for Kohls, Necklace - Express

I think we all have some trends that we love, but maybe family and/or friends just don't care for.  That's why I decided to create a new recurring post for my blog entitled, "Trends My Mom Hates."  My mom takes all of the photos of me for my blog, so I really value her opinion.  However, there are some things where I just have to go with what I like; in this case: culottes.
I got these culottes about two months ago but was having some trouble on what to pair them with.  I finally took an afternoon to just try on tons of different tops and shoes with them.  What I discovered is that they have this beautiful high waist that just needs to be showcased.  So, after realizing that, I went straight to my crop tops and decided on this one for its summer vibe.  Another thing to consider when styling these particular culottes is that I think they look a bit better when the leg is elongated, therefore heels were the way to go.  Since these heeled, cut out, boots I chose have gold accents, I finished this look with a gold necklace and rings.  I love this necklace because I purchased it at the Teen Vogue Fashion U Express event, but I'm just realizing it now that I had yet to showcase it!  I swear I actually have worn it before!

I'm not sure how often I'll be posting under "Trends My Mom Hate," but I doubt this will be the last!  Speaking of which, what trends does your family hate?

Prom 2015

Christina (left), Mariquita (right)

Wearing:
Dress - Asos, Shoes - Boohoo, Clutch - Zara
Makeup:
Eyeshadow - Sephora, Mascara - Bourjois Paris, Foundation - Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation, Bronzer/Highligher - Revlon, Blush - Revlon, Lipstick - NARS Lip Pencil Rose Pink (Satin)

First, I would like to say how happy I am that my computer is back from the shop!  As of right now, it's working!
So about two weeks ago, it was prom.  I was originally going to wear a dress that I purchased last year, the infamous Fame & Partners dress (you can read my review about it here), but there ended up being a lot more fit issues than I remember (such as side boob, weird breast cups, and boning that created unflattering bunching to name a few problems).  Because of those facts, I ultimately decided to get a new dress at the last minute.  This dress fit me perfectly, well other that the few inches at the bottom that my mom chopped off because it was too long.  Other than that it was perfect.
To go with my dress, I order a dazzling pair of heeled sandals from Boohoo.  Last year, I didn't break in my heels properly which resulted in scars on my ankles.  I did not want to deal with that again, so I definitely wanted a more comfortable pair this year.  I was able to wear these all night, making me incredibly happy.
I wanted to do a completely different hair and makeup look this year from last year.  I've recently become obsessed with Downton Abbey, so I decided that I wanted Edith hair, otherwise known as 'Marcel Waves.'  My mom was kind enough to do it for me as I completely clueless when it comes to anything regarding hair (also I'm not going to pay some ridiculous amount to get my hair done professionally).  Last year for makeup, I wore gold eyeliner and deep red lipstick.  I pretty much did the opposite this year by doing a more elaborate eye with bronze-y eyeshadow and a nude/pink lipstick.
Before I end I would just like to say, aren't my friend gorgeous?  I thought Christina looked like a model for a Roberto Cavalli runway while Mariquita was the perfect ethereal goddess.  We all had a great time, and it was perfect way to mark the end of our senior year!
