National Lipstick Day

 Wearing:
Top - H&M, Skirt - Target, Shoes - Matty's (DSW)
Lipstick - M.A.C  in M.A.C Red

Happy National Lipstick Day!  Otherwise known as for me, everyday.  I will say though, everyone keeps referring to it as "National" Lipstick Day, when I've seen people from all over the world saying that.  So shouldn't it actually be referred to as "International" Lipstick Day?
I celebrated National Lipstick Day by wearing my absolute favorite lipstick: M.A.C's M.A.C Red.  I wanted the lipstick to pop against what I was wearing, so I decided to go very monochromatic.  I paired my new polka dot button-up with my neoprene skirt and my new shoes from DSW.
After putting this look together, I felt that it actually looked very Portland.  While I was at the Summer Studio in Portland, I noticed that a lot of the people there dressed very similar to this.  Apparently it has rubbed off on me.

Once again, Happy (Inter)National Lipstick Day!  Did you celebrate by wearing your favorite lipstick?

Playing with Proportions

Wearing:
Blazer - Forever 21, Tee - Primark, Skirt - Target, Shoes - Converse

After eyeing this for a while, I finally decided to get this blazer from Forever 21.  I first spotted this on the site months ago and was able to try it on when I was in Denver.  I was going to get it then, but I then remembered that I still had credit on my Forever 21 online gift card all the way back from my birthday.  I kept forgetting to get it, but after my trip to Portland I finally remembered to buy it!  I'm so happy I finally got it; I love the oversized quality to it, along with its tailored, menswear characteristic.
I styled this blazer with my oxblood skirt because I loved how much the two colors contrasted with each other.  Another thing I liked about these two pieces together, are the proportions with each other.  The length of the blazer is practically as long as the skirt itself.  I knew that the shirt I wanted to wear with it needed some white in it.  I decided that this black and white striped tee was perfect because it brought in some pattern.  I then added my Converse because I felt that it made the look more casual.  Finally, the neighborhood cat decided that he would add himself to the pictures for a final touch.  (I still don't know his name, but I hope I find it out soon because he's been spending more and more time with me.)

Dreaming of Chanel

Wearing:
Shirt - DIY, Jeans - Simply Vera Vera Wang, Bucket Bag - asos, Shoes - Matty's, Rings - H&M, Cuff - unknown brand
Lipstick - Chanel Rouge Allure in Extatique 94

I started this outfit around my new shoes from DSW.  I'm so in love with them, and they are actually comfortable.  I saw a woman wearing them at the MAC counter in the Seattle Nordstrom.  I casually complemented her shoes when we started a small conversation which included where she bought her wonderful shoes: DSW.  I love DSW, but not having one in the entire state where I live is disappointing, so I ended up ordering them from the website.  (Thank you nice woman from Nordstrom for telling me where you bought your shoes; I love them.)
I think I was instantly attracted to these shoes for many reasons, but one of the reasons is that I feel that these have a strong resemblance to the Chanel FW 2013 boots, take a look:

What do you think?  No?  Just me?  Okay.

Since I was thinking about Chanel with my boots, I decided to theme the rest of my outfit around Chanel.  Along with my boots I wore my Karl Who? tee, some black skinnies, my bucket bag that has Chanel-esque quilting and chain, some gold accessories,  and finally my actual Chanel lipstick.

Someday I'll have actual Chanel to wear.  Someday that Chanel Le Boy bag will be mine.  But today?  Today is a fine day for Chanel lipstick.

When the Moose Come Calling

Today I have more of a life post rather than a fashion or style post.  I live in a place that I feel is just so beautiful.  At the same time, I can't wait to leave to go to a big city.  So it's times like this where I can really appreciate where I live, while I'm still here.
Last night I went "camping" with my aunt, uncle, and mom.  However my mom and I didn't spend the night for two reasons:  1) I'm really not a camping person, and 2) I haven't been sleeping well since my wisdom teeth surgery.  So, mainly because of reason number two, my mom and I just left the camp site in the evening while my aunt and uncle stayed the night.  We did the normal camping things, I would say: we ate dinner, we went down by the creek, we lit a fire and ate s'mores, and saw some wildlife.  The wildlife I normally see are chipmunks, squirrels, maybe a deer or two, but this time we saw moose.  Yes, moose.
Let me say this, though I live in small town in the Rocky Mountains, seeing moose is not the norm.  I, in fact, have never seen a moose before let alone two!  Turns out all I needed to do was drive 45 minutes out of town to see some.  Seeing these moose was amazing because it was a mother and her child.  The baby moose was just so adorable and curious.  Both of them ended up walking directly into our campsite.  It was truly an amazing experience.
This next morning I woke with about a dozen mosquito bites, but eating those delicious s'mores and seeing those moose was definitely worth it.

Casual Summer

Wearing:
Dress - Monteau Los Angeles (TJ Maxx), Cardigan - Target, Bag - asos, Shoes - Converse

Just a short OOTD (outfit of the day) post today.  Well I should say "outfit of last week."  I wore this early last week before I had my wisdom teeth taken out.
It's a rather casual look.  It was incredibly hot that day so I tied my cardigan around my waist.  To keep it casual I just wore my Converse.  Finally I added one of my favorite bags: a white, faux leather, barrel bag from asos.  It's not the most practical bag (its clasp is a bit difficult to open and close), but I love it none the less.

I'm finally starting to feel better from my wisdom teeth surgery.  I think tomorrow I'll take pictures, and hopefully post, another OOTD.
