My weekend in Gent was mostly spent working, however for the one night that we were there my friend and I were able to have the evening to ourselves and get dinner.  The Lys River is in the middle of the city; it's the perfect place for people watching and getting a bite to eat.  After our incredibly long day (I woke up at 3:45 a.m.), we decided to go for the 'classically Belgian' meal of pizza.  Okay, maybe that wasn't so Belgian, but we did order a side of fries, and I can confirm that Belgium should be very proud of them!  Our night finished with a waffle and a walk along the river with a few of the models.  You never know what kind of models you'll meet on set, but the ones on our shoot were not only great at their job but also super nice - I couldn't have asked for anyone better.

When it came to my outfit for the day, I knew that I needed something comfortable that I could wear all day.  I decided on my black jeans, a tank, and a light jacket; layers = smart, right?  Well, Gent was boiling that weekend.  My black jeans absorbed all of the heat.  My jacket instantly came off once we arrived to the city, and despite putting on some sunscreen it clearly wasn't enough as that afternoon I discovered one of the worst sunburns I've had in a while.  If you look closely, you can see some red on my chest.  Luckily it's all better now and has sorta turned into a tan (a very, very sad tan), but it definitely reminded me that reapplying sunscreen is important.  The next day was better, as I wore a flowy dress that also covered me well.  In the end, it was not one of my best summer dressing efforts.

Anyone else burn as easily as me?  Let me know in the comments - I'd love to share more sunburn horror stories!
