San Francisco Fun

Wearing:
Coat - H&M, Dress - Pimkie, Boots - Dr. Martens, Purse - Ross

While I was in California for Thanksgiving, I was able to spend a lovely day in San Francisco.  My mom and I took the ferry to the and went to Union Square.  I had the intent of doing a ton of shopping, but I didn't quite find exactly what I was looking for.  I did get a top from Forever 21, tasty macarons, and some random things at a Japanese dollar store (including blue lipstick).  For lunch, my mom and I stopped at a lovely Irish pub.  After that, we roamed more shops, including H&M and Nordstrom, and took some pictures of the city.  Other than that we didn't do too, too much.  Just being in the city was fun, even if I didn't do anything too "special."
Now, onto what I was wearing.  I wanted to wear something that I could really wear right now where I'm from (that was basically the theme of the whole trip).  I started with this dress that I bought when I was in Paris this past summer.  Riding the ferry can be a bit chilly, because you're out on the bay, so I added tights to the look.  Knowing that I would be doing a ton of walking around the city, I knew that I needed to wear comfortable shoes, which is why I decided to go for my Dr. Martens (people are always surprised when I tell them that my Docs are one of my most comfortable pairs of shoes).  Lastly I wore my favorite coat, which I ended up carrying most of the day because it was so warm once I got to the city, and my small black and white purse.
It was actually really funny walking around the city and seeing all of the locals who were clearly very cold as everyone was wearing their down coats -- it was only 60 degrees!  However my mom and I were walking around without any coats on and sweating.  When we left the mountains it was 0 degrees, and when I got back it was -15 degrees.  So 60 degrees felt amazing to us!

Warm California Days

Wearing:
Dress - Target, Cardigan - Target, Shoes - Kohls, Purse - Kenneth Cole Reaction (Ross)

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving!  I was lucky enough to be able to leave my cold town and go to the San Francisco Bay Area in California for Thanksgiving to visit family.  So naturally I brought all the clothes that I can't wear now because of the weather.  It was amazing to be able to put on a dress without worrying about my legs freezing.  I paired this striped dress with a simple black cardigan, a pop of red with my purse, and my new oxfords that my grandma bought for me.  Normally I would have just worn Converse with this dress, but I just couldn't wait to try out my new shoes.

After going to California, I feel re-energized.  I always get rather bored and tired when the winter comes, and with all the stress I have at school right now (not to mention college applications), I've been wearing a lot of jeans and jumpers.  And if I did wear something more fun, by the time I would get home from school it would be way too dark to take any pictures.  This makes me frustrated because blogging is one of my favorite hobbies to do.  Being in California allowed me to relax and wear some clothes the final time of the season.  There, I was able to take pictures almost everyday, so I have plenty more posts to come!  Yay!

(P.S. I now have Google Friend Connect; I'd love it if you follow me!)

An Adieu to Ankle Boots

Shoes (Left to Right):
Black - Simply Vera (Kohls), Buckles - DSW, Leopard - Steve Madden (DSW), Red - boohoo, Black and Gold - River Island

Adieu.  Au revoir.  Ciao.
Well, it has snowed.  What does that mean?  No more ankle boots.  Why?  Let me explain.  There are many reasons.  1)  They may be boots, but they are only ankle boots.  So if I walk in snow, any higher than two or three inches, it gets inside the shoe.  Then I have to spend the whole day walking around in cold, wet feet.  2)  The majority of ankle boots have absolutely no traction.  When there's snow, there's almost always ice.  Last year I was wearing my red boots (shown above) one of the first days after it had snowed.  I was walking outside and I slipped on some black ice (the worst kind of ice).  So I made the choice to not wear those boots the rest of the season.  Now the time has come again, and I think I'm going to make the same choice.  However, there are some ankle boots that have a little traction.  I'm going to try to continue wearing my New Look ankle boots with the white soles (they are not pictured here, but they are featured on many other posts of mine), as they have tread bottoms.
So, goodbye ankle boots.  You are my favorite type of boot, and I will definitely miss you.  See you in the spring.

(P.S. Here is a picture of the dreaded snow that has come down on my town. Ugh.)

Haunting

Wearing:
Jumper - Pull & Bear, Jeans - Simply Vera Vera Wang (Kohl's), Boots - New Look (Asos)
Lipstick - Bite Beauty Lipstick in Aubergine

Though October and Halloween are both over, today I still felt rather haunting with my look (perhaps because I never really dressed that dark and creepy during the week - or month - of Halloween).  The deep violet lip color against the white and lavender-grey jumper creates a contrasting look, which I love.  I always want to style things somewhat unexpectedly, which is why I try to go for contrast in many of my looks.  This jumper I bought while in Paris, and I just love it because of its unique fabric.  I'm not exactly sure how to describe it, but I think that the closest thing to it would be neoprene/scuba.  Against this jumper, I wanted even more contrast so I went with black jeans and ankle boots.  Finally, the white soles on the boots brings the entire look together with the neutral yet unexpected colors and prints.

Into the Fog

Wearing:
Coat - Delia's, T-Shirt - Forever 21, Jeans - Urban Outfitters, Boots - Steve Madden (DSW), Bag - Asos

This semester is starting to get rather overwhelming.  Along with applying to many different colleges, I'm taking three different AP classes, involved in three clubs, and helping with costumes in my school's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  On top of all of that, this morning I woke with a migraine and a fever (ughhh!).  So, I would just like to apologize for only posting once a week in the recent weeks.
I suppose I should get to the outfit now, huh?  Well, the weather here is starting to turn.  A surprising (but happy) thing, though, is that it hasn't started snowing yet.  (Last year it started snowing in early October.)  Because of this fact, it means I can still wear my cute ankle boots that have absolutely no traction.  Knowing that I have a limited number of days left to wear them, I decided that I need to wear them now before it's too late.  These leopard print ones are a new favorite pair of mine, so I started this look around them.  The day I took these photos it was rather chilly and foggy, so I needed a warm coat.  I liked the color of this blue coat and the leopard print together, which is why I decided to keep the rest of my outfit neutral with just a simple denim jean and a grey and white striped tee.
In other news, I recently bought some new eyeshadow palettes and such, so I'm considering doing a makeup haul.  Interested?
