Here We Go Again

Summer has taken over London with a vengeance.  This past week, the normally bustling city has practically come to a standstill thanks to the heatwave.  London really isn't prepared for this kind of heat, so lots of building don't have any form of aircon to manage it.  At the office where I'm interning, it became so hot that my boss sent me out to get ice lollies for everyone.  Great idea in theory, surprisingly difficult to execute.  I had to go to three different supermarkets because the first and second ones' freezers had broken due to the extreme heat.  In the end, Sainbury's came through and everyone was able to get their ice cream.

The heatwave has made getting dressed pretty difficult; I love my jeans and am not one to wear shorts a ton.  But with this heat, every morning the temptation to just wear a swimsuit nearly gets to me.  I've been trying to balance wearing jeans by wearing something light on top.  The shirt I'm wearing in these photos - despite being long sleeved - is a light cotton and off-the-shoulder making it one of the better pieces in my wardrobe for these high temperatures.  I've been trying to make these boots work in this weather as they're actually an open lacing and you're not meant to wear socks with them; they were okay to wear on the day I took these photos, but the temperatures have only been going up so I don't think they'll be back on my feet for a while.  In the end - they're still boots.

One of the few places you can always count on to have a working aircon is the cinema, and this summer has had no shortage a great movies.  From Jurassic World to Incredibles 2, it's the summer of the sequels and most recently I saw Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.  I love a good musical, and this one was no exception - even if it is a bit cheesy at times.  The best part about when I saw it, I was actually able to grab tickets to a special showing that had a Q&A with Lily James afterwards!  She's my favorite actress (I've loved her since Downton Abbey), so of course I was ecstatic about it.  She was so incredibly lovely, and I got a picture with her afterwards (check out my Instagram to see it)!  I think it may be the highlight of my summer!

How is your summer going so far?  Did you enjoy Mamma Mia as much as I did?  Let me know!
