Playing Tourist

Notice anything different about me??  That's right, I finally got my hair cut.  Not only did I get it cut, but I did my roots as well (I know, it had been way too long since I last had my hair colored).  I have to say, it's so satisfying having my hair all one color.  It's been a while since my hair has been this short, so I'm still getting used to it, but I love it so much.
This week I played tourist, and went to some of London's most iconic places.  Despite living here for nearly six months now, I still hadn't been to Trafalgar Square or Buckingham Palace.  My friends and I started our day at the National Gallery, which is right in Trafalgar Square.  I would definitely consider myself a museum junkie, and this one easily makes it into my top five list (side note: I went to Museum of London last week, and that one was really good, too).  They had many works by Monet, Van Gogh, and Elisabeth Vigee Le Brun (one of Marie Antoinette's portraitists).  They also had an exhibition up on Australian Impressionist painters.  It was interesting to see the Australian's take on something so iconically French.  The best part was that as a student, entry for the exhibition was only £3.50!
After the museum, we meandered our way around Trafalgar Square before finding ourselves outside of Buckingham Palace.  We weren't able to go inside, but I was able to get some nice pictures of the gates.  Not quite wanting to head back yet, we found a nice little cafe, where my friends had tea and scones, whilst I had hot chocolate and Victoria sponge cake.  The atmosphere was so cute and perfect for afternoon tea.
I always find it fun to play tourist; there's always something to see here.

    1. I have been to both, but I feel like I've hardly scratched the surface in the V&A! I adore their fashion exhibit, but the rest of the museum I've hardly seen. I really need to go back there again!
