A Day in Exeter

A fortnight ago, I took the three and a half hour train journey down south to Exeter to visit one of my American friends doing her study abroad there.  I wanted to take one last trip before returning to Montana for the summer.  The train ride was gorgeous and went surprisingly quick (with the help of my downloaded Netflix movies).  I've always loved old cities, and Exeter is perfect for any history lover.  There's everything from Roman walls to the cathedral that sits in the middle of the city (which, for some reason, I didn't take any pictures of).  For lunch, my friend and I ate at a small cafe called Tea on the Green, and the building it was in dates back to the 1500s.  You can then walk about 15 minutes down to the river, which has great views and lots of cute little shops.  I only ended up spending part of the day in Exeter, as in the afternoon we took the train to the Exmouth coast (which will be an upcoming post).
Knowing that I would be doing a great deal of exploring around town, I wanted to wearing something comfortable.  Jeans are always my go-to for comfort, so I paired it with a fun white blouse with elbow cut-outs (gotta show off my sexy elbows) and my new espadrilles.  The espadrilles would have been perfectly comfy, but I hadn't properly broken them in yet and almost immediately got blisters on my ankles.  It was also my first time wearing my new backpack from Zara, which will now permanently be a holiday staple.

I have a number of posts coming up this week about my last trip in the UK for this year (school year that is; I'll be back in September).  I'd love for everyone to read them, so keep checking back!

Elizabeth xx
