Liz on Top of the World

I don't like hikes.  I really don't.  Living in a place like Montana for most of my life makes it hard to avoid hikes, and trust me, I did everything I could to avoid them.  Hikes are hot and uncomfortable, and you're more than likely to come across lots of bugs and animals - some friendly... some not so friendly.  I've always hated hikes.  And then I did this one.

Let me start by saying that I'm not suddenly a hike convert and will being doing one every weekend this summer.  In Montana, I'm still not a fan of them (it will be far too hot).  But this hike was the most beautiful hike I had ever been on, and made all of the bugs and thigh chafing (ugh) worth it.  Sure, I made some mistakes by wearing a denim mini skirt when I knew we would be walking 4+ miles, but in the end I didn't mind. The views were something out of a movie, and as I was walking along the paths I felt like I was in a Jane Austen novel.  In fact, I was trying to channel my inner Keira Knightley from the 2005 Pride & Prejudice while shamelessly posing and even named this post after a song from the movie's soundtrack.  And just when it would start getting too hot, the sea breeze would hit you and instantly cool you down.  It ended up being an amazing day, and I might just have to go on another hike sometime soon.
