One of the things I really wasn't expecting on my trip to Abu Dhabi was just how amazing the architecture would be.  In all honesty, I think I was expecting more of a Tatooine from Star Wars kind of vibe because of Abu Dhabi's desert location.  However, they've been experiencing a real building boom recently, so a number of new buildings are being built.  A lot of these buildings have a real futuristic quality to them; take this one for example, my family told me that it reminded them of a rocket ship.  The curved metal is amazingly intricate, yet very fluid.  This uber-modern architecture is a great contrast to its desert surroundings.  In retrospect, I really shouldn't have been so surprised by the architecture considering the tallest building in the world is only an hour away from here in Dubai: the Burj Khalifa.  Speaking of Dubai, that post is up next!  Sadly I didn't get to go to the top of the Burj as it was mostly sold out the day I was there, but I do have some fun pictures of the coast!
